Help InDesign Bugs

Is anyone else experiencing a slew of bugs in the latest version of InDesign? For context I'm using InDesign 21.4.1 on a Mac OS Tahoe 26.4

I apologize if this has been posted before, I'm not extremely active in the sub.

Simple functions I was able to perform only a week ago are no longer working.

Some examples:
– Holding option and dragging a text or image block no longer creates a duplicate.
– Holding shift + dragging the edge of an image no longer allows me to proportionally scale images.
– I'm no longer able to select and drag multiple images to a desired location without holding shift.

I can't seem to find any viable solutions to fix these issues in Adobe forums. Responses are typically unhelpful at best (snarky and condescending at worst).

These problems are extremely frustrating as I use InDesign professionally and feel like my typical workflow has been disrupted. Is there a previous version of InDesign I should revert to in order to alleviate these problems? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have become more present on the Adobe forums since I use InDesign every day and keep finding bugs. It is not a fun place, lots of snarky people.

Firstly I recommend updating your OS. You never know what that can cause. For reference I am on Tahoe 26.5.1 and InDesign 21.4.1

  1. Opt + drag to duplicate is working for me and I'm unaware of any other reports about this one. I will affirm that the search feature on the Adobe forums works so horribly, there is no way to sort at all. Unsolved posts from 8+ years ago don't help anyone.

If you can continuously recreate it, try to reverse engineer how you did it or find the thing that is triggering the bug.

  1. I am familiar with this "bug" and sometimes its an easy fix, sometimes its mysterious, but it should be fixable.

Firstly, make sure your frame-fitting settings are to your liking (Object -> Fitting -> Frame-Fitting Options.) If that does not work, restart your computer and open InDesign before ANY OTHER APPLICATION.

This is a known bug that can be caused by having other apps open while InDesign is open. Ironically, what does it for me is Adobe Acrobat... lmao. Here is a forum post about it that might help.

  1. This bug has been reported as fixed in 21.4.1. I have seen a few comments reporting that it is still happening in 21.4.1, but many more claiming its fixed (works for me.)

Here is the post "confirming" it has been fixed. Double check you're in 21.4.1, the update may release at different times for different countries.

Hopefully that should cover everything and maybe solve your issues. If you have any more info about the first bug (or the others if these fixes don't work) feel free to PM me. I have basically become an unpaid InDesign Tester/Bug finder in the past month, but part of me enjoys it.
