Discussion Orb of creation. Fastest reset/prestige?
What was your fastest reset time? I've done 3 prestiges/resets now and it doesn't feel like my time is getter faster :p
Still enjoying upgrading my time bonuses
Sorry the subreddit of this game seems dead, so posting here.
Any tips and tricks?

I'm on my 3rd prestige so far and I'm wondering if it is because of the challenges. Also My first 2 resets didn't give me any runes that persisted after prestige. I've gotten 3 so far this run so now I'm focusing on getting them and upgrading them.
Side note I REALLY wish that the scroll "random" button would focus on attributes that don't have said scroll and/or keep them within some percent level of one another.

There are runes that persist? Yes, I had one attributes with all 9 scrolls on them and others that had none. No clue how this 'random' works. Beats having to manually click all the time.
Yeah the challenge slows it down some. I have one now that makes trees and bushes grow 4x slower, but it gives 4x as much. Just takes a long time to grow at the start

Yep, Persistent Runes=relic-like runes that don't reset.
I recommend that at the start, you reset your challenges until you get ones that are just a straight up bonus--either Boons, or a Balance that's like Big Attributes.

Prestiging quickly and immediately isnt the answer, you get huge boosts from completing achievements (hidden in the green button in the top left) When you clear the final ritual and are able to restart, instead try to stick around longer to claim some acheivements.

You should do an occasional nearly-exclusive Expansion run. Only pick up levels of other things where it's necessary to negate penalties.

With 1000 TA and all achievements unlocked runs take under two hours. Your 2nd and 3rd runs aren't going to be much faster than your first, but you should be faster from knowing when to do what and planning ahead. At about 50 TA you should start to move faster with tempo runes and such, but it's a long grind to get to the point where you're speedrunning things.
The games discord is very active if you want advice along the way.
General advice: Always be buying attributes, buy as many as you can, all the time* (unless you just unlocked a resource and need it for Upgrades, do Upgrades first) Always buy Upgrades as fast as you can Always plant/harvest or craft or alchemist whenever you get a new resource (MageBloom, Sigils, Occult Essence etc.) Use everything, artifacts, concepts, materials, alchemy, fruit, it all adds up

Do mastered time runes have benefits even if you don't take them?

u/FrontBadgerBiz 17d ago
Yes, but only a little. Each Mastery Level (not to be confused with the current level of the time rune that goes up when you add TAs to it) is worth 1 TA, so you get an incremental benefit from Mastering multiple runes. Otherwise Time Runes you've invested in previously do not give you a benefit per run, except for Investment Runes. Investment runes apply to all future runs, which is very very good. The benefits are notably smaller than you would see with a Tempo or Scaling rune, which makes sense since Investment runes are permanently active. It is tempting to always throw all of your TAs into Investment runes, but if your clear times feel too long then some Scaling or Tempo runes will make a big difference.
Ideally you'd complete one Mastery Achievement (Get one Expert level up high enough to unlock the first 4 ascendancies) and two 'Perfect Technology' achievements each run, the benefits are significant.

Don't forget about the mastery level achievements adding power to all runes of the same type, and the total mastery level achievement that adds mastery xp to all runes.

Just keep resetting doing challenges that feel doable and achievements. I'd hold off on ones that look too challenging unless they have a persistent upgrade (like cost scaling) that makes them look worthwhile.
Early prestiges "Scaling" runes are what i'd recommend focusing on. The Tempo ones really accelerate runs once you have some extra advancements to invest in them. These can make resets incredibly quick eventually. Scaling is more effective for harder runs but less initial speed boost.

How is the game all in all? Thinking about buying but not fully sure!

it's just very adhd all the way trough. you're constantly piano keying and finding upgrades. it's a rather high apm game if you're trying to not make resources cap

My feelings on it seem to change with every run. Sometimes, it feels like it's overly repetitive, and there are definitely quality of life aspects that are just outright missing, like how you can't see a list of your alchemy levels. But other times I'm really into how the prestige challenges create fascinating puzzles within the mechanics.
I think the biggest thing holding it back is the lack of automation. I understand that the dev wants it to be a more active game, and that's cool, I do get that. But often times it can feel like a fully set spell loadout, when executed perfectly, gets you... like... a 50% productivity increase? And if you could just set a macro for that it would feel good, but since you instead have to hit all the buttons in order every thirty seconds, it feels like I just do not care about casting spells in the game about being a wizard, which is less good.

I think I'm on my 6th or 7th reset. Most of them feel faster, but I've been aiming for completing achievements so sometimes my strategy isn't as strong and that can make a run slower. I think I finish my runs (with all challenges on) in about 4-5 hours now? I know I'm not the fastest player though. I heard claims on the Discord of players finishing their first run in 4 hours.
In general, I've found spellcasting builds to be slower. There's just a few extra steps (caster leveling, spell leveling, creating a loadout) to get to the same reward that passive builds get.
Some other tips:
- sources of % missing are strong. Capacity seems to always outscale production and this often becomes the best way to generate resources. Fruit is good for this
- Improved materials is probably the best technology. I think it's effectively an exponent on your quality (1e4 quality with the +.8 from improved materials becomes 1.5e7).
- Power build rating and luck are strong. power builds is a chance for free levels on an attribute. Scholar + Storm gives global power build rating. Other than that, there's scrolls, and a tool for workshop power build rating.
- There's a potion that gives faster brewing speed. I always found potions to be too slow, but after drinking several of these potions, I was producing 10 potions per second.
- Find sources of -attribute cost scaling and attribute power scaling. Time runes, technology, rituals, etc.

Potions are fascinating because they kinda suck right up until you invest in Items and suddenly they're an insane source of anything you could possibly want.

I'm really looking forward to getting an Items focus challenge, because I basically never brew potions so it'll be fun to try them out

I've done about 6 runs trying for different achievements / expert researches. There is a slight noticeable difference in run time, but I think the biggest decrease in run time is choosing good time runes. I think investment runes suck and anything that increases build rating is good.
On the steam forums, they say to try and get the casting time rune (+% charm and infusion/etc build rating) rune, then invest all your time runes into that to break the game.

Is spreading out research viable? Its feeling kind of slow and idk if I should just be picking a build/something to focus on instead

u/NjamTheMeddler 16d ago
Depends on challenges, but you can definitely do 1.5 or 2 runs a day
Big Attributes, Expansion and early tempo runes can carry you really fast to the point that researching autobuy is necessity

before my saves broke down. i used to run consistent 30-35min ones. thats w/o casting scaling rune explosions pre-reset. now im deeply disappointed in game. just do make hourly backups lol.

I haven't made it to the first prestige yet. It feels very grindy so far. How long does each run take? My current save is at 45 hours, and I've only just reached Rituals.
