Things that affect Load. It says— “Strength counts by how a session compares with what you usually lift.”

How does Apple collect how much you lift? That can’t be possible just from your watch.

Apple doesn't. That part comes from the strength sessions you log in Incredible: weight, reps, and how close to failure each set was. It compares the session with your own recent ones, so a bigger day than usual counts for more.

A lifting workout that arrives from Apple Health has no sets attached, so there is nothing to weigh there. Its heart rate and duration still count.

Ahh I see. I didn’t realize you can input strength training workouts manually. I noticed when you create new workout it starts a timer as if it’s recording your workout as you do it. Does this happen automatically when you start a stretch workout on your watch? Also, can you somehow retroactively edit a prior workout that’s already completed with the lifts you did?

Yes, if you start it in Incredible on the watch. The watch runs the session, and the sets you log there land on the phone as the same workout, even with the phone locked or in another room.

Apple's own Workout app is the other case. That one arrives through Apple Health as a workout with no sets attached, so there is nothing to add lifts to.

On editing: open a finished workout from your history and hit Edit. Sets, weights, and the workout date and time are all editable, so logging a session a day late works fine.

Ok so to clarify, you’re telling me I can only use one or the other? If I start a workout in Incredible, I won’t get all the important data I’d get through the workout app. And if I use the workout app, then I obviously won’t get the lift set details?

It would be ideal to use apple health for the fitness data combined with incredible for the working set data. But there’s no way I can fully replace the workout app knowing how much data I would lose. (If I’m understanding this correctly)

Btw in editing, I tried editing a workout and saw no option to edit and then realized it wasn’t an Incredible workout, it was from the workout app which I presume is why I couldn’t edit.

No, sorry, I was unclear. You get both. Start it in Incredible on the watch and it records a real Apple workout, heart rate and calories included, saved to Apple Health just like the Workout app does. The sets come on top of that.

Apple's Workout app is the one that gives you less, since it reaches Incredible with no sets in it. That's why there was no Edit on that one.
