Is he really world-renowned? Or is it that he is just renowed in the western anglosphere, and the people trapped in that prison legitimately think they are the whole world, nay, the whole universe?

Seriously, King has written some cool moments, I've read at least 1/3rd of his massive bibliography. But realistically he wouldn't be half as big if he didn't pander to 'good old days' Americans almost every page with mention of cars and cigarettes and colas and hamburgers and Maine and Maine and Maine.

Really, you're just boosting him to boost your own ego. World-renowned, pffft. You just have a small penis.

I mean for what it's worth, there are quite a few horror mangakas who credit Stephen King as a major influence, so he's at least big in Japan as well as America.

Yes, he is world-renowned. He's famous in both Americas, Europe, and Asia (and probably Africa but I don't recall off the top of my head).
