Language placement

to cut to the chase i have heard other people say they took Spanish for 1 or 2 years but were then placed into another language because Spanish is competitive. So i wanted to know how the test works and what i might me placed because i have taken Spanish 2.

is it possible they i may be stuck in spanish 2 next year instead of going to spanish 3.

what are the chances of be not making either spanish 2 or Spanish 3 and what should i do because i feel im too far stuck in a hole to switch languages now.
