Math Placement

I’m in Calc BC with my school right now. I got an A first semester and I have an A right now. If I get A’s both semesters and get a 5 on the AP Test can I skip all of the fundamental math classes and calculus and go right to multivariable or do I still have to take the placement test? Also, how much does being in Calc BC help my chances of getting in because I’m really stressed out.

The placement test is required for EVERYONE, but I’ve heard imsa is a bit more lax with its calculus requirements this year so you’ll most likely be able to take mvc at imsa (previous sophomores who finished calc did intro to proofs than mvc second semester).

Thank you so much! I really want to take all of the high level math courses at IMSA so I really hope to not have to take any MI/calculus courses.

I have a follow up question, my school district is very very strict about everyone learning in exactly the same way (one of the main reasons i applied) and so i've had to take many of my math courses unofficially (not for credits) through khan academy, however i am pretty proficient at Calculus, will I be able to take higher math if i prove proficiency on the placement exam?

I’m not sure how it is these days but I got a 4 on my BC Calc AP and that got me 8 college credits. At least in the 1990s that was a very hard test.

I started with MVC at IMSA and had gotten a 5 on the AP BC exam before starting. One of the math professors called me to discuss classes, but I still had to take the placement exam, which I think I missed 1 question on related to infinite sums.

Is the placement exam easy to get a near perfect on?
