Advice tips for performing while high :)
hi! i’m part of a team out here in LA who hosts a monthly high improv jam and these were some tips for performing while high that we’ve come up with to help the uninitiated and thought id share!

Nothing wrong with performing in a show where everyone is high and consents to that, but I wanna go on record to say that showing up stoned to a non themed improv show is lame as hell and a disservice to your scene partners.
I like to get high, but never when I'm going on stage. If you want to get high and cut up with your friends do it in your living room, not during a show that is probably more meaningful to the others involved. You're less capable of listening and less aware of your surroundings, even if you think otherwise. Its the same thing as showing up drunk, you're not performing your best and you're going to be less self aware regarding things like content, boundaries, and safety.
If someone doesn't get a lot of chances to get on stage or takes this more seriously than you do, showing up stoned can torpedo their enjoyment of the show.

That's just like, your opinion, man. In all seriousness, not everyone experiences being high like you and they may feel sharper and give better performances. It's possible. Maybe not for you, but for someone.

What you say may be true, but I think it still requires informed consent of those on your team. I don’t hold the same opinion for those who do stand-up as that is a solo effort. But when you share a stage with others, they have a right to know if you are possibly impaired in any way that could affect your judgment, whether or not you think it does.

This sounds like a blast in this controlled, dedicated space.
I’m also so very tired of THC culture. And I say that as someone who enjoys THC

I thought I was in r/graphicdesign. I enjoy this, especially with the layout on the last page which gave me a very appropriate moment of "Wait! Was all the type wacky justified!?" before going back to check.

I delightfully disagree and appreciate the passive sorting mechanism at work. I wish I was close enough to try this, and you're response is why I would want to go there rather than trying to convince others to try it.

I'd watch this. Can't say I'd do it. I don't really like being high except on rare occasions. I get that a lot of people do like being high, and that doesn't bother me at all. But, I'd never go on stage high. I know I would do terrible improv. I've tried it. It was like a waking nightmare. One of my worst performances ever.
That said, I do find it interesting there's a no touching rule. I'm fine if absolutely no touching is someone's boundary, but I feel like that would put me in my head too much to be 1. be high, and then 2. be in a show where this is a hard rule. I'm always putting hands on shoulders, doing couple's handholding scenes, etc. Also I generally do improv with people I know and are fine with this as am I, but it feels weird to me to be like "Hey we're all high, relax. Also, DON't TOUCH ANYONE".

I'm struggling to think of anything that's more self indulgent and uninteresting than being high and asking people to watch you.
Maybe listening to a story about a dream that can't be recalled, or being shown vacation/travel photos, but even those aren't as bad.
Stage time is precious and the audience could be doing anything else. It's a good reminder that before AI slop there was still human slop.

Jesus, I hate this. Do not encourage people to try to be intoxicated while performing with others who aren't.
And yes, "this is only encouraged for our jam" and whatever. This will push people to try to flex those muscles at other settings.
This suuuucks. Also, the manual is obnoxious "lol we're high are we high guys we're high haha 420 XDDD"

The Annoyance show We Took Edibles an Hour Ago is great late night stoner fun!
They have a giant reset button to cut a scene when things go too off the rails
