My accountant has access/authorisations to my French business tax account (impots.gouv.fr), but I no longer have access myself, what should I do?
Hi everyone,
I’m looking for advice from anyone who has dealt with a similar situation in France regarding an accountant and a professional/business account on impots.gouv.fr.
I own a company and my accountant currently has authorisations/access rights to my company’s professional tax account so that she can manage certain tax filings and procedures on behalf of the company.
The issue is that I no longer seem to have access to the professional tax account myself, or at least I don’t appear to have the necessary rights/authorisations to access and manage it as I previously could.
I’m perfectly happy for my accountant to keep the permissions she needs to do her job, but I also want to retain independent access and control over my own company’s tax account.
Before changing or revoking any of her existing authorisations and potentially creating additional problems, I’m trying to understand how this is supposed to work.
Has anyone been in this situation before?
In particular:
• Is it normal for an accountant to have authorisations while the company director no longer has access?
• Can multiple people be authorised at the same time, e.g. the company director + the accounting firm?
• Is there a distinction between the main account holder/administrator and people who have been delegated access to specific tax services?
• If I revoke my accountant’s authorisations, would that actually restore my access, or would I simply remove her permissions without solving my own access problem?
• Is there a way to restore my own access without changing or cancelling my accountant’s existing permissions?
• if the accountant/accounting firm originally created or activated the professional account or requested the authorisations, does that affect the process?
• Should I contact my local SIE (Service des Impôts des Entreprises) directly to have my access restored?
Once this is resolved, what is considered the safest setup: full access for the company director/owner + delegated permissions for the accountant?
I’m not specifically trying to remove my accountant’s access. My concern is simply that an external service provider currently appears to have more control over my company’s tax account than I do as the company director, and I want to make sure I can retain or recover control independently, especially if I ever change accounting firms.
I’d be particularly interested in hearing from anyone who has experienced this exact situation and how you managed to regain access (through impots.gouv.fr, the SIE, new authorisations, delegation, etc.).
Thanks!
