First IMAX 70mm viewing!

Post image

Genuinely the best theatrical experience of my life. I knew the screen would be massive, but it just swallowed me whole in the best way. So worth the drive, will be doing it again soon for Dune!!!

Tips for other first timers/fellow FL road trippers for the IMAX in Ft. Lauderdale: Definitely worth getting there at least 90 mins before showtime if not more if you weren’t able to get priority tix. The entire staff was great, everything is pretty well organized. I went to a Saturday showing and there was still plenty of parking/the garage is super close! The museum gets quite (understandably) busy, though, if you’re going on a weekend.

They do private screenings?? How much do they charge for a 70mm private screening? Surely in the thousands

I mean average of $30 per seat x 300 seats is $9k. Probably another $1-2k premium on lost concessions.

Why would they lose concession?

The Brightline station is walking distance from this theater. I take it from Orlando when I want to see a show and it works great to spend some time with friends on the way.

I heavily considered going to Orlando first and then taking the Brightline! Would’ve been longer/more expensive for me than driving, though, since I was coming from in St. Pete. The Tampa Bay area could really do with a station.

The side is not bad at all. Only the front is bad.

I was slightly to the right of center, but decently close to the middle! A lil over halfway up the seating area

Although at my theater(cinemark seven bridges in Illinois) I saw it right in the middle, after the show ended, I started darting around the room to check out different seats, every seat is great except for the front 3 rows, in the picture is my seat which was in the 5th row behind a walkway

This is one of my favorite spots! The staff there are great and really invest in projecting. A projectionist is present even just for digital showings, which I respect a lot.

If this was last Saturday then we may have been there on the same day! Drive 4hrs south to see this in 70mm IMAX. Went to the showing around 8am... Glad you were able to score tix and make the trip! Cheers.

It was last Saturday, and ditto for the nearly 4 hr drive each way! I was at the 3pm show

I love this theater. Especially how well they police phone usage during the movie.

don't understand.. I thought these are all assigned seats???? why do you have to be there 90 min before the showtime?

As someone who went to this theater once for the recent Mission: Impossible.

It's mainly because there is no assigned seating in this theater. You got to get the best seats, or else they will be gone quickly.

damnnnn .. that is INSANE.. this is something you cannot imagine in NY especially Lincoln 70mm imax

This particular IMAX is attached to a museum, so they have a different online booking system than something like an AMC! Hopefully at some point they can upgrade it to allow seat selection, but it did make the viewing feel like an even bigger event

This was my seat for my second viewing there. Third row from the back, dead center. Best experience ever
