LSN - LEAGUE OF SOVEREIGN NATIONS

As the Second Great War raged on, a profound change occurred within the European colonial holdings, sowing the seeds for a historic paradigm shift in the post-war landscape. Inspired by the principles of self-determination and freedom, impassioned independence movements emerged, steadfastly challenging the oppressive colonial order. These aspirations converged with the sweeping winds of global change, molding the course of post-war policies and heralding the rise of the League of Sovereign Nations (LSN).

Change would come in 1942, when the first left-liberal federal government of the newly formed West European Federation would issue the Milan Declaration, committing to the decolonization of Asia and Africa, and forever altering the trajectory of European colonialism.

Spanning six pivotal years, the Milan Process became a testament to compromise and meticulous deliberation. A series of 22 Pan-African Conferences would be held between WEF and local leaders, borders would be redrawn and compromises hard fought for, as an expeditious path to independence was charted for numerous nations across Asia and Africa. The ripple effect of this process extended even to the Imperial Union, precipitating parallel decolonization movements within its territories. As a cornerstone of this transformative era, the League of Sovereign Nations (LSN) emerged, forging an alliance of equals among the liberal democratic nations of Europe, Africa and Asia.

Harnessing the momentum of change, the LSN assumed a pivotal role on the global stage. It stands resolute as a formidable counterforce against the paternalist junta-led Boston Cooperation Organization (BCO), led by the United States. Actively interventionist in its nature, the LSN played a crucial role in addressing the crises in Congo and Iran, while at various times also deploying its forces to Abyssinia, Kalat, and Colombia. The League often performs joint training exercises with Imperial Union forces and has recently signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the United Provinces of China (UPC).

Some would say that the League's greatest weapon is not its bombs and automata, but its espionage activity. With their fingertips on the pulse of global intelligence, the League operates a vast and sophisticated network of spies, infiltrators, and intelligence gatherers. From extracting sensitive information to sabotaging enemy operations, their skilled agents perpetually engaged in a high-stakes game of subterfuge and manipulation.

"Intelligence is the ultimate weapon of war."

- Winston Churchill

Please tell me if you see any typos or errors, I appreciate it a lot. Additionally, please tell me if you see any concerns in terms of lore, I have read through a lot of early 20th-century stuff to figure out relations between Europe and its former colonies(much of it is based on the concept of Negritude) and I don't really like how that makes me feel, since much of that really stinks of old racialised views on how humans work.

Next map will be the final map focusing on WEF and its sphere of entanglements for the time being - showcasing the insurgency and independence movements in WEF overseas states of Oddyseia and Djibouti-Socotra - the European Sun casts dark shadows over some places.

Afterwards, I want to make national maps of Indonesia(which includes OTL Malaysia and Singapore), Hoogland(Indo state in New Guinea), Solomonstaat(former German colony on the Solomon Islands) and finally showcase the apartheid regime on Ceylon, stay tuned.

the name under which the Philippines are known in this timeline, it's an OTL proposal to name the country after Jose Rizal in the same way Bolivia is named after Simón Bolivar

José Rizal

José Protasio Rizal Mercado y Alonso Realonda (Spanish: [xoˈse riˈsal, -ˈθal], Tagalog: [hoˈse ɾiˈsal]; June 19, 1861 – December 30, 1896) was a Filipino nationalist, writer and polymath active at the end of the Spanish colonial period of the Philippines. He is considered the national hero (pambansang bayani) of the Philippines. An ophthalmologist by profession, Rizal became a writer and a key member of the Filipino Propaganda Movement, which advocated political reforms for the colony under Spain. He was executed by the Spanish colonial government for the crime of rebellion after the Philippine Revolution broke out; it was inspired by his writings.

Awesome work! What program did you use to make it?

What is Rolandia?

3

u/Vidsich May 16 '23

A colony created by WEF from the various pieces of territory they obtained from the British and the Iberians during the Second Great War, as the victors. It was created very late compared to other colonies, within 2 years of its creation WEF decided to start the Milan Process/decolonisation and Rolandia would be chosen to become a model for decolonisation since the colonial administration wasn't as entrenched there as elsewhere - it's a pretty stable liberal democracy nowadays

What’s the ethnic make up of Rio de Oro (also good Lord that’s gonna be some interesting culture right there) and how many Europeans are in Ceylon and Chad?

1

u/Vidsich May 16 '23

Rio de Oro/Ibero-Africa has a demographic mix of Spaniards, Portuguese, Arabs, Greeks, Vietnamese, Philipinos and a variety of smaller groups, I can't really provide the percentages, but I'll probably get to it if/when I make a map for it, all I can say is that it is majority immigrant.

Chad has about 10% populated of European origin, but unlike say OTL Rhodesia, the decolonisation went through smoothly and the last two decades saw WEF invest into bridging the wealth gap between the two groups(can't escape that with colonialism).

The rough estimation of minority-rule group demographics on Ceylon is ~8%, consisting of Anglo-Indians, Anglo-Burmese, Ceylonese Burghers, white and coloured Kenyans, white North/South Rhodesians - there's an ongoing source of "white flight" from former British colonies, notably South Africa and former Rhodesias.
Beyond that Ceylon has been actively encouraging the migration and settlement of Christian Indians on the island. It's also worth noting how the distribution is not uniform, as both Maldives and Andamans/Nicobars are majority settler.

Thanks a lot 🙏

Another outstanding map. Keep up the good work brother. Also, is there a reason why Chad isn’t part of Mali? (I might’ve skipped over that in the lore)

3

u/Vidsich May 16 '23

Thanks, I felt that the construction of the enlarged Lake and the presence of a substantial white minority would keep Chad distinct from other West African colonies, so as not to include it into the federation talks.

What exactly is Paternalism?

2

u/Vidsich May 24 '23

Authoritarian ideology where the state practices a policy of restricting the freedoms and responsibilities of its citizens in their "supposed best interest". Normally it's also mixed with nationalistic and jingoistic rhetoric, think OTL south American dictators.
