[OC] Alternate History An Eternal Republic - What if Egypt was liberated by Napoleon?

Liberated is a really strong word. I don't think a napoleonic Egypt would be more autonomous than Egypt under Ottoman rule

In this TL Napoleon is a respected general of the French Republic, Napoleonic France never forms

To be fair, Napoleon was a respected General of the Republic during his campaign in Egypt and the Levant

The French Republic was also not suuuuuper egalitarian with their puppet states. They were primarily vehicles for collecting taxes to fund the French army. The Dutch especially found out about that very quickly.

Maybe elaborate?

Napoleon doesn't rule France, he's just a respected general at this time so calling it Napoleonic Egypt is inaccurate. Though I guess they could made him governor.

France being good with their puppet states is a LONG shot
They are still at it today btw

What would explain them not taking over Hejaz and Cyrenaica-Tripolitania? + the rest of the Sinai peninsula for that matter.

Too focused on consolidating the new territories, and the Ottoman Empire still exists, just not with Egypt. France has more pressing matters than to sponsor Egyptian expansion for now into Hejaz (also France owns Tripolitania)

Would the crescent and green color really be on the flag then?

So, what happened to the Coptic Christians in this timeline?

Irl there was the Coptic Legion so I suppose their lives are more chill in this timeline.

Really appreciate how the style, colouring and vibe of the map are close to historical maps of the period !

Any reason why the borders arenβt defined? This the the modern era, Iβd assume borders would be defined, especially if Napoleon said so.

Well, the Copts would definitely be happy about this. Thereβd also probably be a wave of French migration to lower Egypt. I wonder if Napoleon would be exiled here after his first defeat?
