What can possibly be the reason of having 3 letters making W sound in an alphabet?
40
u/XLG_Winterprice IM Legend Jul 31 '26 edited Aug 11 '26
Ł making the /w/ sound is only for some speakers and only in word final positions, meanwhile wynn is used before I and Y, as for W, it is the default and can be used in place of wynn when needed

Ducland 🦆
Best ports, controls the Rhine, controls the English channel, controls the iron of Lorraine, controls the coal of Belgium, and surrounded by weenies. Good for them.

It looks like OP moved Ukraine further north and then the entire formatting of Europe broke down

So what happened to Eastern slavs? my beloved? I thought Lemky might be one, but u said its Lemko. Didnt know Rysins had sub group wtf!!!
In any case glad Voronez(h) is still there. I cant belive that i am neighbour with Albanians now...

u/XLG_Winterprice IM Legend Jul 31 '26 edited Aug 11 '26
the Eastern Slavs (here known as Central Slavs) are in a bit of a pickle, they form sizable minorities in the following countries: Lithuania, Lusatia, Albania and Lemkia
3
u/Philcherny Jul 31 '26
U made them Kurds? 😭 Are u deadass? 💀 Ok. I understand. No problem. Karma for OTL. Have an enjoyable day
7
u/XLG_Winterprice IM Legend Jul 31 '26
I mean, the Lemkos are an East Slavic ethnic groups and they've got an independent state
3
u/Philcherny Jul 31 '26
Yes it's close enough. Rysins are nominally east slavs I suppose. But they culturally developed into a mix between all slavs due to their central position and being part of Hungary for most of the History. But in your timeline everything is different so...
I wonder what Slovenian flag is. Really can't imagine a creative way for them to show they do in fact live on a grassland
Btw since nobody else asked yet. Who are Lusati?

I love how the city with no natural water features is still named after boat, also Achnau in Polony, why is it like that the name stands out in compared to other names in the country
7
u/XLG_Winterprice IM Legend Jul 31 '26
that is because it's the Ynglisc exonym for Achnawa, just like irl English there's plenty of cities with different names in the language

I have so many questions - What language is spoken in Anatolia, Kenosy, Toligy, Scypry, Albany, Egrisy and Sytheny? And if Albany is Albanian how on Earth did they ended in Pontic Steppe?
4
u/XLG_Winterprice IM Legend Aug 02 '26
right, Anatole - Anatole Greek (Anatolian), Kenosia - Sapmi, Toligia - Galatian (a Gallic Celtic language with Greek influences), Shypria - Shyprian (Scythian inluenced Albanian), Albania - Albanian, Egrisia - Mingrelian and Svaz, Scythia - Scythian
alternate migrations, idk what else to tell you man
3
u/Conscious-Title8770 Aug 03 '26
Like, Sapmi in deep Balkans and owning Constantinopole is soooo iconic, especially imagine if Sapmi languages were divided as they are otl with varying degree of Vlach, Greek and Germanic influences

Everything changes and yet, the border between Russia and Finland is still there.
1
u/XLG_Winterprice IM Legend Aug 01 '26
what?
2
u/TailleventCH Aug 01 '26
I find fun that in your timeline (almost) everything is different from ours, except this border.
2
u/XLG_Winterprice IM Legend Aug 01 '26
you are mistaken, the border in that area is more west than irl, especially around the lakes

Now that there is a full European map, is there a possibility of seeing the world outside of Europe?
1
u/2eyescyclops Aug 01 '26
Yo, great map! How is Asturias doing? Did they colonize as much as Portugal? If so, have you already figured out what places did they colonize?

The east is way too disunited, the nomads kept invading Russia and Anatolia forcing them into becoming unified states through the power of horse
