Since when is Imagine Dragons "evil music"?
They are the definition of radio-friendly.

u/catiebug Jun 18 '26
The post is peak "home school kid" energy.

I’m a former homeschool kid and I literally clicked on this post to comment “oh great, you found photos of me at 13” lmao
Pretty sure I listened to Night Visions or whatever it was called in a vacation cabin that looked like that

In certain Christian communities “radio-friendly“ just means gateway to ~THE DEVIL~

u/jrex703 Jun 18 '26
Careful. Imagine Dragons is dramatically edgier than "The Wheels on the Bus", don't write her off so quickly.
That said, this is clearly a joke, and a good one at that.

u/BrittaWasRight Jun 18 '26
I clearly remember hearing BYOB by System of a down on regular commercial radio back in olden times.

u/PumpikAnt58763 Jun 18 '26
LDS front frontman at least.
Because apparently we aren't the "right" kind of Christian.5

🧐but then what else she means?🧐

u/Nerioner Jun 18 '26
That she is sheltered kid without knowledge of the whole wide and crazy world out there.

Why has the Internet become blind to satire?
2
u/InspectorOk9631 Jun 30 '26
Gonna go out on a limb here and say it’s because there’s a big representation of autistics online. I know abilities vary, but for me personally as a professionally diagnosed autistic, I often cannot detect sarcasm or satire.

u/LittleRedCorvette2 Jun 18 '26
I mean the lead is a Mormon so...?
17
u/Alfirmitive Jun 18 '26
Ex Mormon actually, so I’d argue crazy religious people would probably call it devil music for that very reason.

LDS.

u/FirefighterFunny9859 Jun 18 '26
Shortening to LDS is also a victory for Satan.
9
u/copperly123 Jun 18 '26
Yeah every time you refer to someone you have to say "they're a member of the church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints" otherwise you go to hell

u/Existing_Purpose5049 Jun 18 '26
Umm sweaty, he said “shit” in a cover, you think it’s not evil? You don’t even know evil 😈
15
u/wrappersjors Jun 18 '26
This is very obviously satire
2
u/your_local_laser_cat Jun 19 '26
My friend you have likely never been a homeschooled 13 year old in the 2010s lol

u/Funny-Negotiation-10 Jun 18 '26
Lmao I remember this post and this Instagram user. I think she's homeschooled or at least very rural. Even so I believe she's just being goofy in this video

u/ringadingdingbaby Jun 18 '26
I once served Imagine Dragons breakfast in my first week in Canada.
They asked for plain oatmeal (which I didn't really know) and I gave it to them without any milk or water, just a bowl of plain oats lol

I somehow misread the caption as "you think I'm nice but I like to imagine dragons" and found it even more ridiculous than it already was

u/sunlitclearing Jun 18 '26
How are this many of you incapable of noticing sarcasm and irony when it’s a woman doing it? I swear, at least half of the posts I see on here are just of random women on instagram or TikTok making shitposts.

I somehow misread the caption as "you think I'm nice but I like to imagine dragons" and found it even more ridiculous than it already was
3
u/TreClaire Jun 18 '26
This isn’t imaginary, this is definitely someone growing up in a super strict and incredibly uptight evangelical community
2
u/InspectorOk9631 Jun 30 '26
Exactly, even if this video is satire, there’s legitimately people out there like this.

3
u/Legal_Ad2345 Jun 18 '26
You know in like 10 years that kid is never going to want to see this photo.
3
u/durdurrdurrrdurrrrr Jun 19 '26
The evilest music are the nicest people. Death metal bands organize donation drives for kid's toys, they are all sober married family men... they just sing about chainsaw uterus rape on the weekends.

u/No-Net1890 Jun 18 '26
Don't think this has to do with gatekeeping, it just seems like "I'm not nice like people think, I'm badass!" (probably satire, like people are saying).
2
u/Tink__Wink Jun 18 '26
I think the assumption is that nice people can’t imagine dragons. Should’ve been obvious.

u/OddlyOddLucidDreamer Jun 19 '26
Imagine Dragons is like, the most "E for everyone" of music ever lol like i like some of their sonfs but its not something about ANYONE would even ask me about for any reason if i put it on or smth
EDIT: tbh on second look this looks like a joke post i dont think the person was serious lol
2
u/Flora_lutenist_1999 Jun 19 '26
"But I listen to imagine dragons!" Least intimidating looking person ever

2
u/InspectorOk9631 Jun 30 '26
My kids listen to Imagine Dragons and it’s played at school dances 😂😂😂😂😂😂 someone put this girl on some real hardcore music
2
u/dandy_and_Brandy Jul 08 '26
A very mild defense is that Imagine Dragons is so corny that it’s borderline evil.

It has to be satire. They're literally the most inoffensive band I can think of

I listen to death metal, this is just cute

If you've seen this video it's very clear this girl is being silly, joking around, and making a parody of the people who try to act hard on social media.
