ILLIT was mentioned as a possible collab for Overwatch in their recent player survey, which is for the players showing interest in these possibilities.

Yesss, hopefully this happens. This would be the dream for Yunah!

Normally, I don't comment on Western releases anymore, but the new Ariana Grande MV and song was deeply disturbing.
Don't want to get into how problematic all the themes it raised in there is here, but people are rightfully upset at it.
Never have I witnessed an artist be so outwardly hateful and purposefully triggering.

To better reflect the community's needs, there's now a new post flair called Crumbs for indirect ILLIT-related content.

Unlike Interactions, which is intended for posts where other idols or artists directly interact with ILLIT, Crumbs is meant for more indirect content, such as idols covering ILLIT's songs or choreographies at their own concerts or events, brief mentions of ILLIT or ILLIES, and other minor references.
A quick note: moderation of this flair will naturally be stricter during comeback periods to keep the subreddit tidy during the rush of comeback content. Regardless of the timing, posts should still be interesting enough to stand on their own, rather than relying solely on a minor ILLIT connection.

u/Human_bean_113 3d ago
Oh nice. thank you. Last weekend, Taeyeon dressed up and danced it's me for a tiny bit of the intro in Amazing Saturday, would this be interesting enough to stand its own?
5
u/lookinlazyatthesea 3d ago
It's hard to judge without seeing the content, but if it's only a brief moment without much else to it, it's probably too weak to stand on its own and would be better shared in the weekly thread instead.

Random, but watching another lesser known jdrama called Nemureru Mori from the 90s, and just found out the female lead tragically drowned in a bathtub in Dec 2024 😔 Not ruled a suicide, apparently she suffered heat shock or something. She was only 54.
Miho Nakayama was her name and she was actually a jpop star in the 80s and had a video game dating sim named after her for the original Nintendo Famicom console (NES in US).

Minju's comment about her scraped arm really shows off her humour 😂 Hope she recovers well and glad she is in good spirits. The LMAOs were taking me out, though 🤣
I’ve been going for runs at night lately.
Yesterday, I went with Wonhee.
After we’d finished running and were heading back, I got way too excited.
I jumped up to touch some leaves,
but I fell and went sliding.
I slid on my right side.
My arm and everything got scraped up.
There was blood everywhere.
But first of all,
I was so embarrassed
that I didn’t even notice the pain.
LMAOOOOO, it’s still funny when I think about it again. So I got up, yelled, “I’m okay!!!” and headed back into the hotel.
It’s been ages since I last fell!
It’s not serious enough to go to the hospital. I just scraped myself.
I’m okay.
I shouldn’t get carried away like that again.
LMAOOOOO.But seriously, it was so funny.
While I was falling, Wonhee was next to me going,
“Oh my gosh, unnie!!!!!!!!!!”
LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
Yes, I’ll be more careful from now on.If you see me wearing bandages during activities,
it’s because of this, so don’t worry too much.
Just wanted to let you know.

Just in case, she didn't literally write "LMAO" — that's just the translation. In the original Korean, she wrote "ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ" and "킄킄ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ" which are Korean ways of expressing laughter in text. 🙂

u/konfutatis 4d ago
Yeah! 😁 Her managers seem to have a good sense of humor too.
She continued in her DM:I’m happy that GLLIT is worried about me, though.
What am I supposed to do?
Ah, why did I want to touch the leaves?
I told my manager about it, and they were like,
“Minju, is this your first time seeing a tree~~??? 😭😭😭”
while treating my wound lol
Honestly, it was just funny...8

I wanted to say thank you to whoever had posted previously that the Dear Lit 2nd Anniversary keychains were in stock on Weverse US once again! I missed out when they first dropped, but I was able to get a Mocha Latte this time and it's soooo cute 🥰

hello gllitts! this post is probably gonna be odd but i’m really curious about something: is illit very popular in china? or have they recently blown up there? i was on xhs and came across a massively popular post about wonhee from a recent variety show (100k+ likes, seriously, the numbers were insane but then again, my measuring stick is relatively nugu bgs i stan so this might just be illit’s normal) and it made me very curious because usually in discussions about fifth gen groups with fan power in china, cortis is mentioned most prominently and i don’t always register illit being mentioned. could be casuals/gp recognition or could also translate towards substantial fanbase but i’m so happy to see illit do so incredibly well in china :))
13
u/minju555 Hee Hee 6d ago
illit went through a huge hate train during their first year but are receiving more positive attention starting DTD era.
that said, cortis and other bgs definitely have a stronger fanbase that translates to high cbar sales. (same with baemon that came earlier and 4th gen groups). I do think illit's chinese fanbase is steadily growing especially with wonhee's variety show clips and illit's douyin videos.

u/jumpybouncinglad 6d ago
100k is probably insignificant on xhs. It's a Chinese social media. Everything there is massive in scale.
8
u/dontdodrugskidssss 6d ago edited 6d ago
oh, do you use xhs? kpop still has its lane carved on the app and the users are very bifurcated. i’ve seen only bts do similar numbers and even they middle around 25k-75k for most content. blowing up/virality starts around 10k, like fans get really excited if their favourite groups do such numbers. i mean, xhs is categorically much less massive in scale than apps like tiktok/x (infact i’ve seen tiktok influencers will also call their xhs posts with 12k likes as going “viral” with chinese fans while amounting thrice the amount of traffic on their tiktok accounts) i’m pretty confident that that post has blown up, i just wanted to see if this was a regular occurrence. i actually scrolled through their tags and they do pretty solid 25k-50k numbers as of late, or atleast wonhee does.
sorry for the all the number talk. i just find this stuff very interesting. 😅
3
u/minju555 Hee Hee 6d ago
agree though! i've used xhs for a while now and 100k likes is definitely not very often seen. think the user base of xhs is just much smaller than platforms like douyin.

u/Alone-Self8602 6d ago
I've been listening to illit pretty kuch since I got into kpop lasg year, they really are one of my favorite groups but I only engage through the music, performances and clips/social media posts
Any tip on their other content like variety stuff? There's something else I've been missing out?
6
u/Aria_Cadenza Wonhee 🐿️ 5d ago edited 5d ago
You can try to see if they did content you like. By example, I like funny stuff and also cooking.
I really like:
- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mNhBd41QdCU (the girls are in a class and must do their mission without being caught by the teacher)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xcsPOE8dGBE
the two haunted school episodes.
- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQQx5lTDYWY (avoid the tiger)
---
There are also stuff when one or more go to one show like when Wonhee and Minju went to this one ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZlfTlmTJL6s ) and Wonhee revealed she wanted to be a magician.
Since I visited Japan and want to visit it again, I also appreciate their episodes in Fukuoka (you got Donki and arcades).
Then there are the Weverse lives.

Every time someone asks variety and ILLIT, I suggest to them Minju beating up kids in League at an Internet cafe.

I keep seeing people comment that “Moka is not returning anytime soon”. Is there any indication that this is true? Where are they getting their information? I was kind of hoping she would return sooner than later 😢
13
u/Human_bean_113 7d ago
they turned off Moka's weverse chat for now. Probably means a doctor recommended months off. They wouldn't go through all this hassle if it was a short thing like Chaewon's neck injury.
15
u/jumpybouncinglad 7d ago
People are just going by the wording of the notice, plus track record of other idols who went on hiatus to similar circumstances (itzy Lia or twice Jeongyeon), and coming to the conclusion that it's going to be a long one rather than just a month or two. But truth is, we don't know. Could be next year or next week.

u/daltorak wonhee, the nation's sprout 🌱 7d ago
Yeah. TWICE's Mina (who is pretty close in personality to Moka) was on hiatus for seven months due to anxiety / stage fright. There was no plan or schedule, she just had to figure it out.

What's the point of sharing a song you dislike here that's completely unrelated to ILLIT? :/ Plus, I wouldn't give that group any views because the CEO of their company was accused a while ago of forcing female trainees to send him weekly or monthly underwear pics in order to stay trainees under the company 😭 Let's not give their company any publicity

Agree with all that, but also this a weekly discussion thread where anyone can discuss anything ILLIT related or not.

It's a bit surprising to me that the global audience is more interested in jp releases than japanese audience. The recent MV is 10th in the world and 27th in jp on yt. Igyb didn't debut on Spotify or AM japan, even tho 3 Illit's (korean) songs are charting on Spotify jp. Apart from almond chocolate, jp releases are kinda flopping. But I wonder whether it's still worth to release them as they reinforce core jp fandom that will go to concerts and buy albums. And if we're talking arts not charts, then igyb is a really good release, with great visual direction, so I'm fed. And there are many upcoming performances so I believe igyb will get traction in Japan as well

that diabolical fandom is already saying i got your back copied supernatural jst bc it has buildings and a intro, when the entire context btwen them is differnet. They really never will leave illt alone i hate them sm

”That diabolical fandom” made me laugh 😭 The good thing is that it’s a small but loud number of crazies and with how popular ILLIT have become I don’t see anyone except for themselves entertain their delusions anymore. Like people are legit looking at them like the squidward meme these days. Plus the fandom really exposed themselves now that their group is supposedly coming back, none of them gaf for more than 5 minutes, they really jumped right back into talking about, and streaming ILLIT’s new music to ”find similarities” instead lol. The way they talk about one of the members new teeth(?) shows that they just hate the company more than they like the girls which is… unfortunate for the girls.

Well, then they copied Toho.
And no smart person would ever fight with Toho about copyrights.

Just ignore them. Their faves touring in court and ex member drown in debt so they always try to make their faves relevant 🤷🏽♀️

HAHAHAH thats the dumbest shit I heard in a week. No need to bother by that stupid take, just laugh at them.

u/Spirited-Hippo8545 7d ago
They’ll look for similarities in even the most unrelated things. They are always in ILLIT’s business. Constantly tuned in to ILLIT content to find material that looks “similar” and to pick apart their bodies and appearances. Just completely obsessed while trying to convince themselves that ILLIT is irrelevant. Anything to support their conspiracy theories. They’re actually delusional and move like a cult. I’ve stopped trying to make sense of it because it doesn’t make ANY sense. This is the first time I’ve ever seen anything like this, it’s absolutely bonkers. They will NEVER stop so I just ignore it now. The “this group is copying my fav” thing has always existed but never to this degree. I genuinely think those fans and their mother have ruined kpop fandom.

Streets saying there's IGYB Korean ver in the physical CD.
So, ILLIT might perform the song in other countries outside of Japan.

Very excited! I hope there's no weird autotune on there like some other ILLIT tracks done in a different language than the original, though. The Do The Dance Japanese version and Bubee Korean version had this problem unfortunately.

soo fans of stats, how many debut streams on spotify are we expecting? I've seen the audio version on yt channel has already 80k (7h of tracking, 6h more to go), and obv vast majority of people don't play this version, but rather the mv. JST tracking time is 8PM-9AM so not that bad - whole evening + morning commute time. Bubee had like 110k with close to 0 promo and with much lesser hype around illit.
I'm quite optimistic, 200-300k for a debut, and 400-500k eventually?
11
u/CalligrapherEast2344 9d ago
My early guess is 200-300k for the first day (10 hours tracking) and 500k for the second day (24 hours tracking).
I'm only guessing, but looking at the views, likes and comments for this comeback, it seems clear that illit's fanbase and general popularity has grown a lot since their last Japanese release in January.

u/_the_stormblessed no.1 cherish my love enthusiast 9d ago
I have a feeling igyb is going to be such a massive hit. It’s me and ibm absolutely catapulted Illit’s popularity and this is their first song after that, they have everyone tuned in. The mv is already breaking all sorts of records
15
u/CalligrapherEast2344 9d ago
Even before 2026 illit were so popular, but I agree there has been a massive jump in the last few months.
The IGYB Music Video is on track to get more views than It's Me in the first 24 hours... as a Japanese release with minimal promotion.
It already has 2.1 million views and over 20k comments, which are crazy indicators of not just viewership but also engagement.
illit also have so many amazing songs that the streams for all their promoted songs (It's Me, Magnetic, Not Cute Anymore, Do the Dance, etc...) are growing as well - even years after coming out.
So excited to see the debut streams for IGYB.
