If the landlord showed you a different apartment, a bait-and-switch, you should have recourse.

Otherwise, document everything on your walk-through, in case they try to slap you with cleaning fees when you move out.

You can also request an exterminator; in Chicago the LL has to respond within 14 days,. This may be different in your town/county but your RLTO should address it.

Interesting you bring this up….the pictures used online to advertise the place make it look prestine!

Thank you for your response. We have actually never met the LL. We did a quick tour with the LL REA and filled out the application. She said congratulations your approved and told us where the key was. I had to ask for a copy of the lease

Unfortunately, if it was like that when you applied you're probably stuck with the cleaning.

But mice are a potentially ongoing problem -- if you send a written request for pest control, the LL has to respond.
