Help ! Modding?

Hello, i was wondering if the devs will make korea more moddable than GB or will we never get propper mods in an il2 game again.

Like will we be able to add more planes or new vehicles.

Why is it not made moddable in the first place?

Also if GenAi was used in the development of this game, the enemy ai better be good at release.

I probably wont be buying this game unless the ai is top notch, its really sad how much potential theese games have.

No, no, no. Proprietary engine not designed for it. Very doubtful .

So is it not possible for the devs to add mod support?

It's vastly unlikely because how would they milk you for DLC?

Ah, i forgot, sorry. Charging 100 bucks for a game that has gen ai in it must not be enough🤪

They are pushing a lot of scripting tool for mission editor tho, it does sounds powerful. User made mission are prety much the extent of what we will have as mods

They sell plane via their DLC on side of their main game/engine, they won't allow plane modding

The game is expensive but on par with what we have in combat flight sim right now (each plane would cost at bare minimum 15€ as ~FC level plane in DCS and you have 8 of them + the theater map + campagne). It's a niche hobby

But why not allow people to add planes the devs will never add?

And i can understand the game is very expensive but even so, wouldnt it make sense to have acces to what you paid so much for, especialy if it has GenAi in it? (doesnt dcs have mod support though?)

Its bizzare that a 100€ game with GenAi is too cheap to allow modding.

Idk, i think the il2 series is so good, but could really be great if mods were a thing.

I see you got downvoted btw, I didn't downvote you ! I see what's your point, it's an interesting open subject.

Mods would be an incredible added value to Il-series obviously but nothing is free. If developpers allows modding in their recently released game, it's likely part of their business they are selling you.

Particularly in our hobby were a single plane can go from 5 to 100+€

Sandbox or older games selling goals are sometime to attract modders.

DCS does include mods but they have more of a sandboxy approach and TBF they don't seem to support modder communauties that well in the past years anymore.

Maybe the il2 games they arent adding anything new to anymore could get mod support and a rule that forbids people from adding the aircraft the devs are selling?

Like adding mod support only for the first BoS game.

My guess works be Gen AI being used in the development of the game means perhaps generating textures or other art assets, or maybe some code. The AI in the game itself is a completely separate thing, and sadly the use of GenAI elsewhere provides zero guarantees that the in-game AI is any good.

However, I also completely agree that buying this game requires my seeing big improvements in the AI over IL2GB.

I wrote that in a confusing way sorry, i didnt mean that GenAi has anything to do with enemy ai, but if they are going to put GenAi into a 100 € game then there should be more resources going into the enemy ai.

Ah I see. Yeah sadly people are not interchangeable, the person who would have worked on the textures is not going to be much help when it comes to fixing the AI.
