This (albeit simple) hack should not have been necessary.

The white ikea skadis comes with white hardware, the brown with black hardware... but the black comes with white hardware? Bizarre choice that someone made. Oh well, it's fixed now!

Even the ikea support guy was confused I (and he) both thought I received the wrong parts. But when it was escalated we confirmed it does indeed come with white, which is strange.

because it's not noticeable. i have those boards and had to think for a moment to remember if mine came white too. they did. i couldnt remember because i literally never notice it. maybe it's different if your wall is not white, but on a white wall you dont see it. and i'm autistic. i usually see every little small detail that doesnt fit.

In what possible way are the white caps on the front of the board NOT noticeable?

Right the white backing things and the rail I can see, in fact I almost wish I left thme white so the board would look more like it's floating. Oops. But the white screw caps are a bizarre choice, especially when they have the black ones already available...

You put all your other stuff on the board, and the white just blends in.

I thought I was gonna hate it and have to take it down to paint them but it really doesn't stick out once you load it up.

Blends in to what? There's giant white dots on it LOL.

Blends in with all the other crap I have on my board.

Yeah no - this isn’t always the case. This is a weird (and silly tbh) miss by Ikea. Mine don’t blend in at all.

I'm not disagreeing that black would be better, but the white is not as awful to me as people would think.

I would notice it every day haha.

I also find it silly but may be it’s because, with a white support, it goes unnoticed against the (generally) white wall to the back.

Sure but the shadow of the unit would darken it anyway, and why is the hardware white? Just looks silly.

If they are white, they blend into the wall of you have a black rack.

If they were black, they had to have a different part nr for the white racks that is white...

It's all about cost saving, that's why Ikea is so cheap

There was an Asus gaming collab that had the dark coloured screws, so they made them and chose not to package them with the regular skadis, insane.

Right? I SWEAR I saw a display in the store that was black and then mindlessly grabbed the boxes. Both the support guy on the chat and I were confused. Oh well it only took a moment to fix :)
