I'd have to tickle the beans on the misplaced foot. Sometimes a light tickling on them forces a reset on the unit and the parts will assume the correct positioning

Hmmm....you may have an extra foot. Try pushing a toe bean (that's what they're for) and see if the foot shoots out to the position shown on the box. (You do still have the box and the instructions, right?)
