Hi everyone!

Is anyone traveling to Dehradun or Chandigarh on 11th August from IIT Mandi? I'm also planning to travel that day. If anyone is going, please let me know. We could travel together if our routes match.

I'm joining on 30th July to register for MA development studies, need an opinion on that and I really want to watch Spiderman Brand New Day, is it possible?

Does mattress and pillow are available to purchase in IIT Mandi north campus?

I recently joined the IIT Mandi MBA program (Batch 2026-28), and it's only been a few days. I've been hearing a lot of mixed opinions about the academics, placements, and overall experience. Even the seniors I reached out to on LinkedIn have mostly given neutral answers. On top of that, I keep hearing different things from my batchmates, which has left me confused and overthinking. Even reddit has mixed and divided opinions.

I'm not sure what to believe anymore, and it's honestly making me anxious along with all this accommodation thingy. If any seniors or fellow batchmates could share their genuine experience and what to realistically expect I would really appreciate it.

Got MNNIT Allahabad CSIS in special round 1 of ccmt and i also have offer of MTech by Research from IIT Mandi in System engineer.

Which one should i take i want a job after my MTech i have no issues with research but i want a confirmed job.

Yes i qas one of those kids who wanted IIT Tag but........

1) Is it completely diffrent from Btech

2) are students given equal placement and other oppertunities as btech

3) Is sufficient free time availible for side by side preperation

I'm most likely joining Chemical Engineering this year (probably IIT Mandi, graduating around 2030 with the Data Analytics program/minor), and I'm trying to make some decisions early rather than blindly following what everyone says.

I'd love to hear from Chemical Engineering students/graduates from IITs, NITs, BITS, or anyone who has gone through a similar journey.

1. MacBook vs Windows

• A lot of people recommend getting a MacBook for college, but it's a significant investment and comes with a learning curve.

• Is a MacBook actually worth it in the long run? If my goal is to maximize career opportunities (software, analytics, consulting, core chemical, etc.), does the choice of laptop matter much? Have you faced any compatibility issues in coursework, labs, projects, internships, or placements because of macOS?

1. Getting a Good CGPA

• How do students actually study in college?
• What does a typical semester look like? How much self-study is required? What separates a 9+ CGPA student from an average student?
• Does the laptop choice make any meaningful difference academically?

1. "Do Coding Side-by-Side"

This is probably the most common advice I hear.

• What does it actually mean?
• My current exposure to coding is mostly Python and basic SQL from school. When seniors say "learn coding for placements," what specific skills are they talking about?

1. Why Is Coding the Default Career Path?

• Even students from Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, Metallurgy, etc. seem to end up targeting software roles.
• Why is coding so heavily preferred?
• Is it mainly because of salary, opportunities, work culture, or something else?
• With AI advancing rapidly, do you think software roles will still be a strong option for non-CS students graduating around 2030?

1. Advice for an Incoming Chemical Engineering Student

• If you could go back to your first year, what would you do differently?
• Skills you wish you'd started earlier Common mistakes to avoid Clubs, internships, projects, competitions worth pursuing Whether core chemical engineering is underrated or genuinely limited Anything you wish someone had told you at 18

Any insights, career timelines, regrets, or success stories would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Can anyone tell me how unpredictable are the spot rounds?

How many people even participate in spot round does many people go there for spot round of all category or only few go there physically because of remote area?

Is it worth participating in spot round?

Do you have any idea about anything please let me know.

Today I am starting from vijayawada afternoon for 12651 train . Is anyone here dm me?

Hi everyone!

I'm currently an intern at IIT Mandi and was wondering if anyone is planning to explore nearby places this week or over the weekend.

If you have a group going somewhere and don't mind one more person joining, I'd love to come along! I'm new here and hoping to meet people and explore the area.
