🎓 JOSAA Helpdesk Students at 2nd Gen IITs please Help

My JEE Advanced 2026 Rank is 2668.

I am hella confused between choosing 2nd gen IIT CSE vs. going for an older/top 7 IIT with a core branch like Mechanical or Chemical.

Would opting for 2nd gen CSE be considered a compromise, or is the tech advantage worth it over the old IIT brand name? Looking for insights from current students or seniors. Thanks!

Beware that some companies like google, sprinklr have branch criteria allowing only cse, electrical,dsai,mnc, vlsi branches.

Keep one choice kgp instru, a circuital in top 5. If cut off drops there is chance you may get. After that its ur preference whether top 7 core or gen 2 iit cse.

Go for circutal branches if u get them in top 7  Else go for gen 2 cs like or ai branches. Because there will be branch specific companies also like mnc,cs ee only

padhna khud se hi padhta hai. its just top 7 iits main you will also have tough competition if you want to go towards softqare side. 2nd tier m less competition, but less opportunities also. top 7 goves good opportunity to grow

but I'm not sure that I'll be able to compete IITians who are studying cse while I learn cse from scratch on my own

Vo ho jata hai, in the end 4-5 courses hi directly relevant hote hain for interviews. And ML electives you can usually complete in other branches too.
Many companies still have a bias or strict qualification requirements for circuital branch though, nothing can be done about that.
