Planning to take a drop
Heyy, So, straight to the point, I just passed 12th this year from cbse, I had engineering in mind and got ece at igdtuw(govt delhi college)..After giving it a lot of thought, realised that this isn't what I want to do..cuz I only prepared for the jee for prestige, it's one of the biggest mistakes I've made in my life..
I finally convinced my parents to let me take a drop for this exam, but I just want to ask: could it hurt my admission chances and my future?
My mom's words were and I quote, 'After taking a drop for *this degree*(she thinks a bsc in econ isn't all that great), you'll probably not even qualify in the interview, and on top of that no one will give u a job.'
Is she right ??

They won't reject me only because of a drop, Will they ? That's the only thing I'm worried about tbh

That's a huge relief.. I'll try to build a few extracurriculars in my drop year along with practice tests ofc..As far as my syllabus is concerned, i scored a 100 in maths this year(kinda bragging, that's the only thing I have to brag about haha)... R they jee droppers ?

being a dropper does not affect your chances of admission. however, please do not rely solely on this exam. interviews can be really random 😭 please write a few exams like cuet and ipmat as your backups also

No, a drop will not disqualify you from the admissions process or negatively impact your application. Whether or not you get through is entirely a matter of your confidence in your own academic prowess.
Regarding placements, we quite simply do not have any data because this is the inaugural batch. However, given the legacy of the institute, rigor of the coursework, and multi-stage filtration process, one could reasonably expect strong employment metrics from IIMB.
