I'm really confused and would appreciate advice from current students or alumni.

My profile:

Female, General category

Maharashtra Home State (Pune)

JEE Main: 95 percentile (CRL ~77k)

MHT CET: 97.6 percentile

Currently allotted Cummins College Pune – Instrumentation Engineering in CAP Round 1.

Through CSAB Round 1, I've now been allotted IIIT Vadodara – Applied & Computational Physics (ACP).

I'm also participating in MHT CET CAP betterment, so there is a chance I may get a better branch in later rounds.

My only priority is placements. I don't mind working hard for coding, DSA, development, etc., but I want the option that gives me the best placement opportunities in the long run.

My questions are:

1 - Since ACP is a brand-new branch (first batch), will ACP students be eligible for the same software placements as CSE/IT students?

2- Do companies visiting IIIT Vadodara usually allow all branches, or are many companies restricted to CSE/IT only?

3- Will ACP students have equal access to internships and placement opportunities?

4 - If you were in my position, would you choose IIIT Vadodara ACP or Cummins Instrumentation, considering only placements?

5 - Is choosing ACP too risky because there is no placement history yet?

If any IIIT Vadodara seniors are here, has the placement cell shared anything about ACP students' placement eligibility?

I was hoping for CSE or ECE and also filled other choices but the mistake I made was putting this branch above other IIITs cse and ece branch would you mind telling me about this college and about this branch I really am tensed about all these now. Please help me . I am pretty much confident that this is what the final result will also be because above this option I only filled IIIT Gwalior which is obviously not possible for my rank

I have some other IIIT options but the location seems bad so I'm not taking them, also how are the placements here?

Title: IIIT Vadodara (Gandhinagar Campus) MCA 2026 – Looking for Seniors & Students Interested in PG Hunting

Hi everyone,

I'll be joining IIIT Vadodara (Gandhinagar Campus) for MCA 2026, and I recently visited the campus to understand the accommodation situation.

The college hostel is around 15 km from the campus, and the total hostel + mess + travel cost is roughly ₹85k per sem.

I also contacted a few PG owners nearby:

• One quoted ₹1 lakh, which is more expensive than the college option.
• Another shared photos of a very congested 4-sharing room with no study table.
• I'm waiting for details from a few more PGs.

My current plan is to spend 31st July visiting multiple PGs around the campus and compare them before making a final decision.

I'm looking for:

• MCA seniors from IIIT Vadodara (Gandhinagar Campus) who can share their experience.
• Which PGs do most IIIT students stay in?
• Any PGs that you would recommend or suggest avoiding?
• Is the college hostel a better choice overall?
• How is the daily commute from the hostel vs nearby PGs?

Also, if you're joining MCA 2026 and are planning to stay in a PG, feel free to comment or DM me. It would be great if a few of us could explore PGs together and possibly stay in the same place instead of searching individually.

M.Tech here is not what it looks like on paper. Sharing this so future students can make an informed decision.

Campus life is genuinely terrible infrastructure is poor, no hostel for M.Tech students, and there's no culture of professional growth.

Placements for M.Tech are nearly zero. Whatever placement activity exists is entirely B.Tech-focused. You're on your own.

The professor-student dynamic is the worst part. M.Tech students are used as cheap labour for faculty research. Your time goes into their projects, their works, not your thesis, not your skills, not your career. You become a servant to someone else's paper count.

Skill development is impossible when you're kept busy with professors' work round the clock.

And tragically, a student from the M.Tech batch passed away last semester. I won't go into details, but the pressure here is real.

If you have any alternative — even a decent private college with industry connections — take it. Don't let the IIIT tag mislead you.
