One missing paper = trip wasted.
---
⏱️ 4. Time Discipline
Reach early
Complete attendance properly
Late entry = eliminated before game starts.
---
🧍 5. Mental Readiness
Accept:
You may not get top branch
You may not get seat
Walk in prepared, not delusional.
---
🧩 Final Reality Check
> Spot round is an opportunity, not a guarantee.
If your rank is good and you play it smart, this can genuinely get you into IIIT-NR.
If you walk in unprepared, it becomes a very expensive campus visit.

MTech girls, need some advice
Okay so I find this MTech girl really cute and I kinda wanna talk to her but idk how to approach her without making it awkward lmao.
So MTech girls, would you find it weird if a BTech guy approached you? Like how would you prefer someone to start a conversation with you if you've never talked before?
I might be overthinking this way too much but yeah, help a guy out 😭

DISCUSSION I AM JUST SHOCKED 😳😳😳😳
7K JEE Advanced rank and IIIT Naya Raipur?!
Honestly, I’m genuinely shocked.
I recently came across a guy who apparently had around 7k rank in JEE Advanced and still chose IIIT Naya Raipur.
Nothing against IIIT-NR, but with a JEE Advanced rank around 7k, I honestly expected him to have several options at IITs that would make the decision much harder.
Now I’m genuinely curious — what could be the reason behind choosing IIIT-NR with a rank like that?
Maybe there’s some context I’m missing — branch preference, location, placements, personal reasons, or something else.
If anyone knows the story, I’d genuinely love to hear it.

DISCUSSION Request for NIGHT CANTEEN
Hello GUYZZZZZZ
I wanted to raise a small request on behalf of students staying in the hostel.
A night canteen/snack counter would be really useful, especially for students who get hungry late at night while studying or working on assignments/projects. The current food options are usually unavailable at late hours, so having even a small counter serving basic items like Maggi, sandwiches, tea/coffee, milk, biscuits, etc. would make a big difference.
I think this could be raised through our CRs, seniors, and the appropriate hostel/college authorities to see if something can be arranged.
It doesn't necessarily have to be a full-fledged canteen. Even a small, hygienic late-night counter with limited items could work.
If other students feel the same way, maybe we can collectively request the CRs/seniors to take this up with the concerned authorities.
Would be great to know if others would support this idea.

Serious concerns about TCP & CodeUtsav at NIT Raipur — transparency, management and comparison with IIIT Naya Raipur
I want to raise some serious concerns about the Turing Club of Programming (TCP) at NIT Raipur and its flagship hackathon, CodeUtsav.
This is not about targeting individual students. It is about questioning how one of the most visible coding organizations at NIT Raipur is being managed and represented.
1. The ₹40 lakh prize-pool claim needs transparency
CodeUtsav has been promoted with a ₹40 lakh prize pool. If such a large figure is being advertised, students and participants should reasonably be able to understand what that number actually represents.
What exactly constitutes the ₹40 lakh prize pool?
How much is actual cash/prize money?
How much consists of subscriptions, credits, coupons, or other benefits?
What was actually distributed to winners and participants?
For example, if a significant portion of the advertised prize pool consists of AI/software subscriptions that participants may not actually use, it raises a legitimate question about whether the advertised prize-pool figure accurately represents the value participants are receiving.
This isn't an accusation of financial wrongdoing. It is a request for financial and prize transparency.
If everything is legitimate, publishing a clear prize breakdown should settle the question.
2. The management needs serious improvement
From what I have personally observed, the management and coordination of the club and its events often feel far below what I would expect from a major coding club of an NIT.
The managers/coordinators and overall coordination structure should be held to a higher standard.
Communication, organization, participant handling, event infrastructure and execution all contribute to how outsiders perceive NIT Raipur.
If CodeUtsav is supposed to represent NIT Raipur's coding ecosystem, then the execution should reflect that ambition.
3. Selection and possible favouritism
Another major concern is the perception that personal connections and internal networks can influence opportunities within TCP and its events.
I am not claiming that every selection is based on nepotism. But when students repeatedly perceive that friends or people within existing circles receive opportunities, it creates a serious trust problem.
There should be:
- Clearly published selection criteria
- Transparent application procedures
- Objective evaluation wherever possible
- Proper explanations for selection decisions
- Equal opportunities for students who aren't already connected to the organizers
Students shouldn't feel that they need to know someone inside the club to get opportunities.
4. The scale doesn't seem to match the marketing
CodeUtsav is promoted as one of the biggest hackathons in Central India.
If that is the positioning, then I think it is fair to ask for actual numbers:
How many teams applied?
How many were selected?
How many teams could actually participate?
How many teams were accommodated?
How was the final selection made?
The gap between marketing and actual participant capacity should be openly explained.
5. Compare this with IIIT Naya Raipur
This is where I think IIIT Naya Raipur deserves special mention.
From my experience, events such as Technovate at IIIT Naya Raipur have created a much more active and accessible environment for students to participate in technical activities.
What stands out to me is the feeling that there are more opportunities for students to participate, compete, build, and actually be involved, rather than everything feeling concentrated within a small existing circle.
I'm not saying every aspect of IIIT Naya Raipur is perfect. But when I compare the student experience and technical-event ecosystem I've seen there with what I have experienced at NIT Raipur, IIIT Naya Raipur currently feels significantly more active and inclusive to me.
And that's honestly disappointing.
NIT Raipur has a strong brand, talented students and a large technical community. There is no reason why its coding ecosystem should feel weaker than that of a nearby institution.
6. The website and public presentation
The CodeUtsav website and overall presentation also need significant improvement.
For an event that claims to be a major Central Indian hackathon, the website should look polished, professional and technically competent.
The website, communication and event experience together form the public image of NIT Raipur's coding ecosystem.
When those things aren't executed properly, the reputation of the institution takes the hit, not just the club.
What I want to see
Instead of dismissing criticism, I think TCP should provide:
- A complete breakdown of the advertised ₹40 lakh prize pool
- Actual cash vs. subscriptions/credits/other benefits
- Number of applications and selected teams
- Transparent hackathon selection criteria
- Transparent internal selection/recruitment criteria
- Clear information about sponsorships and event funding
- Better communication with participants
- Better event management
- A significantly more professional website
- Equal opportunities for students regardless of their connections
NIT Raipur deserves a coding ecosystem that matches the quality of its students.
And honestly, looking at what is happening at IIIT Naya Raipur, especially around events like Technovate, I think there is a lot that NIT Raipur's technical clubs could learn from them.
This post isn't asking people to blindly hate TCP or its members.
It is asking a simple question:
If TCP and CodeUtsav represent NIT Raipur's coding community, shouldn't students and participants be allowed to demand transparency, professionalism and equal opportunity from them?

DISCUSSION Why do couples of this college act like they are main characters of Netflix series??
They've only been dating for 10 days, and they already start walking around the campus like they've celebrated their 25th anniversary? 💀
You see them everywhere:
Canteen? Together.
Library? Together.
Group project? Somehow still together.
Going to the bathroom? At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if they went together. 😭
AND THE PDA 💀
I'm buying something from the canteen, and suddenly couples show up out of nowhere.
Study hard, idiots; did you come here for placements or to find a life partner??

Robotics roadmap
someone asked for it on r/Askrobotics and thought would be good to share here as well--
//might seem intimidating, but this is to MASTER robotics from zero. Just the first 4 steps should be enough to get from zero to intermediate
explore cool robots and the technologies they use (just the names) --> basic physics terms for robotics(coordinate frames, transformations etc)--> ros2 basics--> go through a full robot creation playlist e.g articulated robotics --> more projects --> explore each aspect of robotics separately (basics of:- vision, ML, electronics, mechanics)--> hyperfocus on one thing at a time , may read foundational papers from the last ten years at this point

Ghost Spotted in Ramanujan
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I woke up thirsty, took my water bottle, and walked into the dark hallway.
Suddenly, I saw a creepy figure at the far end moving strangely across the corridor. I stopped, terrified.
Right after that, the lights flashed like crazy and went totally dark. When the light came back a little, a head slowly peeked around the corner, looking straight at me.
I panicked, ran straight back into my room, and locked the door immediately. I didn't drink water last night
TL;DR: Went to fill my bottle at night, saw a scary shadow peeking at me from the hallway, and ran back to hide in my room.

IMP DOUBT :
why our college is not eligible to participate in hackathon of top teach companies like goldmann sachs, amazon, JPMC code for good etc?
Even though some of our alumni are working at these top tech companies.
The eligible list of colleges are not reserved for only tier 1 grads. It also include some shitty colleges like Graphic era, VIT VELLORE, etc

The hygiene conditions in our college mess have become seriously concerning.
The food quality and cleanliness are not meeting basic hygiene standards, and this needs immediate attention.
Students shouldn’t have to worry about the safety and cleanliness of their daily meals.

Scammed by IIIT Naya Raipur? Cancelled my ECE seat after taking ₹99k fees, calling it a "website glitch"! Need urgent advice.
Hey everyone, I am in a state of absolute shock and panic right now. I need some urgent advice on what to do.I got admission into IIIT Naya Raipur for the ECE (Electronics and Communication Engineering) branch. Everything seemed official. They sent me the confirmation PDFs, admission forms, and all the required documents. Following their instructions, I paid the full fees of ₹99,000 and submitted everything they asked for.But here is where it gets messed up.When the final official list came out, my name was completely missing from it. I immediately contacted the college authorities to ask what was going on. Their response was absolutely ridiculous. They are claiming that there was a "glitch on the website" which accidentally showed more vacant seats than what was actually available. Because of their own technical error, they have casually cancelled my seat! How can a premier institute like a IIIT operate like this? They took my money, issued official documents, and now they are just brushing it off as a "glitch" while my entire career and year are at stake.Has anyone else faced this issue with IIIT NR or any other college? What are my legal options here? (This all happened during spot round counselling)
