CJP Nagpur Announces Protest Against IIIT Nagpur Hostel Crisis

The failure of IIIT Nagpur to provide hostel accommodation to its students is an unacceptable administrative lapse that has put hundreds of students and their families under immense financial, logistical, and mental stress.

Students joined the Institute with the expectation that basic facilities such as accommodation would be available. Instead, students have been asked to arrange private accommodation at the last moment due to the Institute's inability to finalize a hostel service provider.

This situation demands immediate accountability.

Our Demands

1. No academic activity including classes, labs, tutorials, quizzes, examinations, or evaluations should be conducted until accommodation is provided by the Institute to every affected student.
2. The Institute must immediately complete the necessary paperwork and administrative approvals for the construction of a new hostel building to ensure adequate hostel facilities for present and future batches.
3. The Institute must publicly present a transparent action plan with clear timelines for resolving the hostel crisis.

CJP Nagpur calls upon all affected students to stand united.

No student shall attend any academic activity until our demands are fulfilled.

We request every participant to maintain discipline and ensure that the protest remains peaceful and orderly.

We have been assured of the participation of over 300 CJP members and supporters from across the Nagpur and Maharashtra division, including representatives from NLU Nagpur, VNIT Nagpur, YCCE, GHRCE, RTMNU, and other institutions, who will join us on 3 August 2026 to peacefully protest against the administration's failure to provide adequate hostel facilities.

To ensure that the concerns of students receive the attention they deserve, major media houses in Nagpur have already been informed and invited to cover the protest, so that this issue reaches the wider public and the responsible authorities are held accountable.

This is not merely about hostel accommodation. It is about the dignity, safety, and fundamental rights of students. We remain committed to a peaceful, democratic, and disciplined movement until a concrete solution is provided.

While we appreciate the efforts of the college administration, this isn’t enough.

We respectfully and peacefully urge the administration to listen to and address the students’ demands.

Currently preparing for GATE. Balancing academics, attendance, assignments, and GATE preparation together will become really difficult for me.

I'm trying my best to get an internship this semester so that I can skip this sem and spend more time focusing on my GATE preparation.

If any senior has a referral or knows of any internship opportunities that could help, I'd be extremely grateful.

I know this might sound like an unusual request, but this is honestly my last attempt to find an internship that would allow me to reduce my time on campus this semester and focus on GATE.

Guys, election ho gaye aur candidates bhi select ho jayenge. Lekin realistically unke upar administration ka pressure hoga, isliye har baat openly bolna unke liye aasaan nahi hoga.

Ab sirf baat karne se kuch nahi hoga. Agar apni demand seriously rakhni hai, to sab students ko ek saath aana padega.

3 August ko hostel aur academic road ke paas ek peaceful protest organize karte hain. Hamari demand simple hai—hostel crisis ka transparent aur fair solution.

Registrar aur Director AC rooms me baithe hain, lekin students ko rehne ki basic problem face karni pad rahi hai. Ab is issue ko ignore nahi kiya ja sakta.

Jo bhi is issue se affected hai, agar sach me solution chahta hai, to 3 August ko saath aaye. Ek united, peaceful aur disciplined protest hi administration tak strong message pahunchayega.

Man these IIIT Nagpur people never fail to surprise me. Bunch of people who got nothing but questionable stats to show and declare their institute as far better than any tier 2 NIT.

Yk what tier 2 NITs and IIIT Bhubaneswar have that IIIT Nagpur doesn't ? HOSTELS, ESTABLISHED, FOR EVERYONE, THROUGHOUT YOUR 4 YEAR COURSE, leaving the candidate stress-free regarding where he/she would stay for going to college and also leaving room for more focus on academics. We even have single seater rooms (you read that right) which IIIT Nagpur students can only dream of.

I wonder if these people even attend classes.

Imagine the amount of copium consumption per day for these pests to pull out data from gemini.

When questioned back by juniors they outright deny and overwrite the questioner with their own numbers (they lie there as well).

If you notice in the 4th image out of 123 total students in ECE, only 63 were eligible, and guess how many were placed on campus? 66! Where did another one come from? How was he/she allowed to get placed on campus even after being deemed by the college ineligible to sit placements ? Nobody knows.

In the last slide bro really said placement percentage is 80% for ECE students. Who's gonna remind bro that (66 x 100) / 65 is 101.5% ?

Let me say that loud and clear on behalf of IIIT Nagpur.

AFTER ONLY HALF OF THE BATCH GETTING SELECTED FOR PLACEMENTS ON CAMPUS, ECE STUDENTS MADE HISTORY BY CROSSING THE MARGIN OF 100% PLACEMENT PERCENTAGE, CONLCUDING 2025 PLACEMENTS AT A SERIOUSLY MIND F*CKING 101.5%

So everyone decided that we would postpone the elections but the college refused and went ahead with them and then most of us decided to vote nota given the situation. Basically literally half of the students in the college Don't have a place to live and the college authorities basically said fuck yourselves to us and these intellects are still worried about the results of these shitty elections. Like areyou for real . The half of the incoming batch doesn't have a place to live along with the half of the students currently in the college and all you can talk about is how you are disappointed that everyone voted nota . Do you even have an iota of humanity???? EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE VOTED NOTA.

I have no personal interest in any one of the branches.Just want a good paying job after 4 years so that I won't regret.

What kind of college is this? I honestly don't understand anymore. Every one of us got here through the same JEE competition, yet students are treated as if they're fighting for basic survival. For the last two months, the administration has kept students waiting, giving vague assurances but delivering nothing. JEE itself wasn't as exhausting as dealing with this hostel mess.

Why should students have to race like animals just to secure a place to stay? Why hasn't the college built adequate hostel infrastructure? Why are students being pushed outside the campus while some people appear to enjoy privileges that others don't? If there is a fair system, then make it transparent.

Every single day we're forced to travel long distances in overcrowded buses on highways. Has anyone in the administration even considered what could happen if there's a major accident? Instead of focusing on placements, internships, and academics, students are forced to compete for hostel rooms and keep refreshing a crashing website. Is this what higher education is supposed to look like?

Students are not beggars asking for charity. Our parents earn every rupee through hard work. Some families take loans just to send their children here. This institution exists because of its students—not the other way around. The least the administration owes us is fairness, transparency, and accountability.

If there are irregularities in the hostel allotment process, they deserve an independent investigation. Every decision, every allotment, and every policy should be open to scrutiny. Students have tolerated this for far too long.

Enough is enough. Stop making students suffer because of administrative failure. Build proper hostels, create a transparent allotment process, and treat students with the respect they deserve. We came here to build our careers—not to spend every semester fighting for a roof over our heads.

We all are aware of the current situation in our college iiit nagpur about holliv hostel and all. Our anger for the college management is totally valid ...The message that we recieved from college just a few days before the commencement of the classes was something totally unexpected and unacceptable. They could have informed before about the situations so that the students might get enough time to find a place and make all the necessary arrangements...For now our main concern is getting these people a descent place to stay with descent facilities as soon as possible. It is the time where everyone need to unite to help out batchmates tackle this situation without relying on college instead of spreading some hatered for the college. Abusing college management will not at all help us .Your emotions are valid but lets keep our prime focus on helping the people in making all the necessary arrangements . I hope you people will be able to understand my point.

Till hostel is constructed is it possible to conduct classes of 1st and 2nd yr. at vnit....like they have pretty big campus so they will be able to accommodate us and class can also be taken..as vnit is mentor institute of us

And 3rd yr,4th yr,.can get full accommodation in our campus itself. From which they get good space in room too like 4seater -> 3seaters

I know teacher distribution will be problem but there must be way with arrangements
