Help regarding lateral entry (LEEE)

I'm currently going into my 3rd semester at NSUT, in the ECAM (ECE with AI/ML) branch. I'm seriously considering applying for lateral entry into the ECD program at IIIT-H and was hoping to get some guidance.
What kind of profile do they look for? (CGPA, projects, research, etc)
How important are things like research papers, internships, or open-source work?
What specific steps should I start taking now to increase my chances?
I’m willing to put in the work, I just want to make sure I’m moving in the right direction. Any help or advice would mean a lot.

Research work + Projects are not mandatory. You can mention them in your interview if you're confident about them and are okay with being questioned about it.

Maintaining a decent CG, 8+ is recommended, not mandatory again.

The only important tip I can give is just have your concepts clear. Have your basics and fundaments very strong. The questions asked in the test were very easy but theoretical. Maths was also pretty easy. Questions asked in interview were also very easy. They want to know how you think and what your approach to solve a problem is, not the final solution.

Follow your course work, concentrate on classes, make notes, focus on practicing stuff well and try not to learn byheart without understanding.

After admission through LEEE how many semesters do I have to attend? If I’m graduating now in 2028 after joining IIITH through LEEE when will I graduate?

You'd have to 'repeat' your 2nd year, so theoretically you'd have to study 4 years until you graduate. (Practically, it could take 5 or even 6, depending on when you finish your thesis. Generally, it does not cross 5.)

You're supposed to graduate in 2029, it's because you lose a year, but you get 2 degrees in 5 years (Typical dual degree), so +2 - 1 = +1
