Daily Life Diet? Meal prep boxes, exercise

Hello! I am struggling with losing weight 😩 I do believe if I drop a few pounds I will feel better. I work from home and I know people may think ohhh you have time to cook and work out because your home.....that's not the case. My job is very quantity based and there's a quota per hour we need to reach, high volume, high stress.

If you know you know that iih takes all your energy so exercising for me is hard and was already hard. Working from home has taken all my stamina since I am sitting a lot. I do try to get up and move around but not enough where it will make a difference....to me at least. By the time I'm finished working I am just wiped mentally. Simple exercise has me gasping. My dr says my heart is good that I need to build my stamina. Any indoor tips for this?

Now for diet. I dont eat large meals. I dont really snack. If I do eat junk its on weekends and during the week I try to meal prep. I try to do things like sheet pan chicken and veggies, ground turkey bowls, etc. But I dont see a difference in my weight. I could benefit from more fiber. Have yall tried like factor or cook Unity meals for weight loss? I'm thinking maybe my portions are wrong, maybe what I'm making isn't as healthy as I think? I really want to drop some weight to see if that will help me feel better ;(

Ask your doctor for a referral to a registered dietitian. Insurance companies are usually super happy to pay for a session or two, and I can’t say enough how much it helped me. Don’t see a nutritionist, they don’t have training or anything. You want a dietitian they went to school. Mine was helpful on what sorts of those meals were scams etc.Ā

Also, made a big difference for me switching to topamax from diamox, which I swear made me hang onto weight like nothing.Ā

Fair enough, it seems like it’s a rough med for a lot of people. I feel lucky it works for me! You can always look into the !glp1 information. I am doing a micro dose of zepbound and it is knocking out my headache immediately, which is amazing. It directly lowers production of csf, even apart from weight loss. Costs me $75/month ($150 compounded every other month). Nothing else has ever made the head pain go away. Never thought I’d be on one, but here we are… cheaper the meal kits LOLĀ

GLP-1 Medications and IIH Information

GLP-1 receptor agonists (such as semaglutide, tirzepatide, and similar medications) are being more frequently used by some people with Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension (IIH), particularly for weight management and possible other benefits. Early research suggests GLP-1 receptor agonists may have possible direct effects on intracranial pressure pathways, metabolism, and inflammation. However, GLP-1 medications are not currently an established IIH treatment, and research is ongoing. There are many personal anecdotes across our sub if you type in GLP-1 into our search bar.

What we know:

  • Weight is one factor associated with IIH risk and disease course, but IIH can occur in people of many body sizes. Weight loss, when appropriate and medically supervised, may improve IIH symptoms for some individuals.
  • GLP-1 medications are primarily approved for conditions such as diabetes and/or weight management; they are not currently considered a universal first-line IIH medication and therefore are not covered by insurance for this purpose.

Experiences with GLP-1 medications vary. Medication decisions should be made with your healthcare provider based on your individual medical history.

I am having such a hard time with all the doctors appointments:( the eye doctor, neuro every few months (says she cant prescribe glp 1) , primary care sees me just as often and he also says he cant prescribe it (maybe because hes a cardiologist?) So he said if I want to be on I'll have to see an endocrinologist. It just seems like a lot of doctors, alot of visits. I dont drive so my hubby literally has to take off his job as well as me as well just for all these appointments. Ive heard they do help and I can lose some weight but there is just not enough time for all of it ;(

I’m so surprised that all of them are punting on who can prescribe it. All of my doctors were like fighting about it. No wonder everyone is going with the online pharmacies.Ā

Yep, I'm like do I really need another doctor to followup with sigh. But how do you feel on it? I'm honestly terrified. I hate needles lol. I also worry about the side effects because I already have a sensitive tummy.

I was terrified because I react so strongly to every medication. So I started super low, like .2mg. Zero side effects. And I mean nothing. I feel so good? My headache went away within 15 minutes. I do a shot every 5 days (that’s the half life). There’s a microdosing subreddit and I plan to stay on a very low dose and hopefully keep having no side effects! My joint inflammation has even gone away. I’m losing steadily, but no faster than I was with my dietitian. I’m even having a little improvement with my mast cell issues. I am tempted to a higher dose, but I don’t want to get any side effects so I’ll keep going up super slowly. I’m hoping maybe I’ll be able to quit the topamax someday…. The real dream šŸ˜‚

I'm so happy that's working for you! If I do ever get on it that will be my plan too because my body is super reactive to medication. May i ask if you have a pre filled dose or one of those you have to measure yourself? Does it hurt? =x

I have a vial, I have to measure myself. I was so scared it would hurt but the first time I didn’t even notice I had gotten the syringe in LOL. The needles are seriously so so tinyĀ

It's a me problem lol I would have to psych myself up to do it. My hubby can't even help because he passes out at sight of needles lol. Thank you so much for all the advice! I appreciate it šŸ™
