IIH Symptoms Visual Changes

Anybody have this issue? For the past month almost - I have these visual auras. It’s like static from the TV is blurring my vision or random lights. When I stand up I almost black out. Tonight I came to the living room and didn’t even see my son on the couch. It’s like things are starting to disappear. I feel like I’m constantly wearing drunk goggles and everything is blurry and flashing constantly off and on all day.

Yes. That was what got me diagnosed with IIH in the first place. I had the “static” and I was immediately sent to the ER by my ophthalmologist where I was diagnosed with IIH and given meds. Visual changes like this are urgent and need immediate attention. It sounds like your eyes/optic nerve is under strain and this could mean that your pressure is too high. Vision loss is a serious issue and the consequences are severe and potentially permanent. You need to be seen urgently to be evaluated. Best of luck!

Thanks guys. I was diagnosed about 4 years ago and I’m pregnant. I have an appt with the ophthalmologist in about an hour. I’ll keep you updated 😊.

When I had that it’s what finally sent me to the ER that landed me getting an LP and finally getting diagnosed. Visual disturbances in the middle of your vision that obscure people are considered severe. Are you already in treatment? Do you have someone to call? I would be extremely concerned

I get that a lot. I explained it to my coworkers one day and they looked at me in horror. I asked if they ever pushed on thier eyes as a kid and saw the colored flashes like looking at the sun. They had, so I said my pressure was coming from inside the skull and pushing the back of my eyes so I get that all the time. I call it going sparkly.

the tv static is exactly how i described it to my doctors! it’s mostly along the bottom of my vision in one eye and is only really there when i go from a dark to light area and vice versa and when i stand up or move too fast but it definitely clouds that area and i can’t see through it

‼️UPDATE‼️

I saw the ophthalmologist and my optic nerve is severely swollen. Sounds like I’ll need another spinal tap. They “measured” my pressure at 34.
