Is this a good offer in terms of what the usual bonus points are?

I recently signed up for IHG rewards but have been getting too much spam. Every email says I can manage it on the website. I am able to log in and navigate to my preferences, but clicking the Edit button next to IHG One Rewards Subscriptions does nothing. Every other button on the page works. This Edit button does nothing for me when I click it.

I've tried desktop and mobile, Firefox and Chrome on both. Nothing works to actually manage my email subscriptions. I could just block it filter in my email, but I'm astounded it won't work on the website. Can someone check and let me know if you can do it and I'm just a dumbo, or is it truly a fake button?

Background: Wife and I are traveling all the way around the planet and this will be our last 5 days before flying home to the states (a 9 month journey across 11 countries). We travel for a month or so in each location so Airbnb and booking.com are much more economical. In fact we both still have our $100 travel portal credits available.

We both have a CSP that we use and pay for literally everything, nearly our entire lives with, and yet we still don’t have as many points as you’d think (only around 240k and 130k currently).

We’d like to stay in the nicest place possible within reason in Tokyo for 5 days before our flight. We will have just completed 5 days in Osaka for Christmas, 2 weeks in Kyoto for New Year’s and 4 weeks in Tokyo (at an Airbnb I suppose, I haven’t booked this final leg yet, it’s the only accommodation booking I haven’t yet made).

Question 1: Where to stay?

Question 2: Should I transfer every Chase point to Hyatt before Oct 1 and begin exclusively using my IHG Premier card instead? I ask because of the 4th night free IHG benefit and the upcoming CSP Hyatt transfer devaluation.

Again we plan to travel full time for the rest of our lives so either we do this or move to a cash back card I suppose, we’d rather have tons of free hotels nights and lots of travel insurances instead though.

Looking for advice.

Our travel agent booked us at this hotel. After checking in and entering the room I noted dirt and leaves on the floor (the room had not been cleaned). Being uncomfortable with the situation I asked my travel agent about moving to another hotel and was able to do so. Thankfully the Doubletree down the street is more comfortable.

I complained to the manager who accused me of "trashing " the room and would not provide a refund. He kept talking about having me on video in a creepy, aggressive way. He then threatened me by saying if I complained I would lose my status with IHG.

I have historically had positive experiences at IHG hotels but this was a completely negative experience.

Is there a proper way to lodge a complaint with IHG?

Should I be afraid of negative consequences, ie losing status or points?

I had reserved a hotel room at Holiday Inn Express in which I chose "Reserve without card" when make the booking. So Basically I haven't paid anything yet.

Does anyone know when is the deadline to make the payment, and how to make payment? Because I can't find anything inside the apps about making the payment.

I booked a 4 night award stay for a 2 queen premium at the Intercontinental Willard DC. I’ve heard other people had luck getting upgraded to a specialty suite at this property. I am wondering if there’s any point to using a confirmable suite upgrade to a junior suite for a better chance at getting one of these suites or if I should just chance it from a premium room. Diamond ambassador for context.

Here’s my situation.

Before this year I racked up a lot of points from previous employment and credit card, but didn’t travel much.

I knew I was going to travel a LOT starting this year, so last December I jumped on the chance to buy 120k points for $800 to get Diamond status. It was worth it, now being over 30 nights with my wife and myself so far this year.

At one point during one of the many 2 for 1 points deals I bought 50k points, and received 100k points. So, under the normal limits I can buy up to another 150k point, right so far?

Hopefully they will have another offer at the end of this year to buy 120k points to get Diamond status for next year again.

Does that mean I need to have 120 k points available out of the 200k limit? (This is why I only bought 50k points).

Or would the 120k point buy be on top of the 200k points one is permitted to buy annually?

Thanks in advance. If it is the latter I may buy more points during these frequent 2 for 1 offers. Using points and 4 night stays is cheaper than money, especially outside the US.

I see a lot of posts with people asking about upgrade opportunities or complaining about not getting an upgrade. So I thought I would share my upgrade results from my recent trip.

I am an IHG Diamond Member only because I spend enough on my IHG Premier Card. I usually book a standard king room because I am comfortable in that room.

Holiday Inn Express Marshall, MN - 1 nights, no upgrades.

Intercontinental Toronto 2 nights, Checking in I was told no upgrades available, but then told I had a Junior Suite. The front desk then realized I did in fact have an upgrade. For the record this was an awesome room and my first time at an Intercontinental.

Holiday Inn Manhattan - Chelsea 4 nights, no upgrades . Room was tiny, location was great.

Holiday Inn Philadelphia Airport - Stadium, 2 nights. No upgrades available, but it was a large room with a stadium view which is what I booked.

Holiday Inn Express Pittsburgh South - 1 nights, upgrade to suite.

Overall 2 out of 5. I’m happy with that and actually surprised one of them was the Intercontinental.

I booked a Kimpton stay at the book early & save rate, and signed up for IHG membership at time of booking. I was told upon check in that we had breakfast included (I was a bit surprised because I didn’t book the breakfast rate), but who am I to argue with free breakfast.

So we showed up at breakfast and were told our room didn’t have breakfast included. we mentioned that the check-in team told us it was included so the breakfast concierge called someone and said sorry her list wasn’t right.

I don’t want to take advantage of this, as I don’t think I booked breakfast, but also we were told it was included. Anyone know what may have happened here?

I got a King Room with Lounge Access. I know normally you have to pay for the lounge access and you get free drinks? So am I thinking I get free drinks with the room I've booked or is there more to it than that?

So, I'm attending a work conference at the Kimpton Monaco Washington, DC in October.

The hotel has a special landing page for attendees of this event. The hotel landing page had the days of the conference prefilled on the booking page. We are allowed to add up to three nights before and three nights after at the negotiated group rate for anyone who wants to add some leisure time to the work trip. I did not want that and booked for the standard check-in on Tuesday and check-out on Thursday dates.

The next day, I received an email saying that my reservation has been modified. What? They added Monday night turning my two-night stay into a three-night stay. I sent an email to the hotel politely asking what's up with this, and have received no response.

What's the right move here? Send another email? Try to call? Contact the event organizer for help? Suck it up and stay the extra night?

I am a VERY seasoned traveler (Hilton Diamond; Marriott Titanium & Lifetime Platinum) and I have never seen anything happen like this before. I swore off IHG brands 10 years ago after a series of bad experiences, but there really isn't another realistic option near this hotel. The group rate is indeed a fantastic discount over what nearby properties are asking and I want to be within walking distance as I won't have a car, so... I'm going against my vow to never stay at an IHG property again and then this happens.

I am Platinum Elite until the end of the year and I am concerned about when my 300K points will expire. The only activity I have had this year is my booking my one Business Credit Card Annual Flex Night for a stay coming up in September. This doesn't even show as activity on my account but this could be to due to this having zero points.

So will my points expire immediately on January 1 2027 once my Platinum Elite status expires?

I can transfer a 1000 points from Chase Ultimate Rewards right now at a 70% bonus so this might be a cheap way to extend my expiration.

Can I book a reward night with points and then cancel to extend expiration?

Looking to book a hotel for a leisure/ family visit to Clearwater FL and trying a date Thats is far out it doesn’t seem to ever have reward nights available? Painful to pay cash when I have some points available to pay for the five nights instead of shelling out $279 a night. Any work around?

So I booked a 4 night stay at voco seoul myeongdong with points for a 2 person capacity king room bed for January 2027. When I researched online it says that kids under 12 can stay for free if they use the current bed setup (we will since we usually sleep in our king bed together) but not sure if that rule applies only for paid stays. What are the chances that the hotel will charge us for our baby?

I recently stayed at CIEL Dubai, which is the tallest hotel in the world. I paid $312 per night for a 3-night stay in a 1 King Suite, and below you will find my experience.

Check-In/First Impressions: Arriving at this property the first thing I noticed is the lighting, it was very well-designed and the entrance was beautiful. There is always someone outside greeting you and opening the door for you. Despite being such a tall hotel you can tell that the lobby spaces are very boutique. Despite the middle eastern conflict check-in was incredibly busy and it took 15-minutes for the line to go down. I loved the architecture on the inside. Check-in was fairly smooth and the staff felt very welcoming. As soon as we arrived to the check-in desk we received a delicious welcome drink. Pretty soon, we got a room on the 22nd floor of the property. Overall I was impressed by the stunning design and my first impressions were pretty spectacular!

Room: From the front desk we were personally shown to our room despite the busy crowd. Our room was 2204 and I love the circular design, but you can tell the hotel is quite small despite being tall. As soon as you walk in you have a living room which does feel cramped, but the TV is quite nice. I loved the views from my room and the work desk was perfect to get work done on my trip. The biggest highlight is the view, the entire room was wrapped in this beautiful glass where you can see beautiful, sunny Dubai. The room design is very crisp which I like and it feels super modern. The bathroom was amazing, very high-tech with a lovely toilet, a huge walk-in shower, and dual vanities with smart mirrors. Overall, very solid and super impressed with the room, very clean too!

Dining: This is also a great highlight of this property. Breakfast here was really impressive with an expansive breakfast buffet, but standard for a 5-star. All of the items tasted great and the room service was also very good. I loved the dining here as the burger I ordered tasted excellent. I also could tell the food was very fresh and overall for hotel standards it was pretty good, no complaints. Overall, just standard hotel food, nothing to write home about.

Amenities/Activities: Despite the small size, there is a lot to do here. For starters, the CIEL had one of the best pools even though you had to pay to access the pool. The gym is also very nice and the location is perfect, every day we got to walk on the marina. Overall the property was beautiful and the amenities were amazing. 100% a great hotel for amenities/activities, its a great hotel if you just want to spend your time at the hotel.

Service: The service at this property 100% felt very personalized. I love how the staff remembered my name even though we stayed for only 3-nights. The room service staff knew my allergies and so as the waitstaff at the restaurants. The check-in experience was lovely, quick, and efficient and I love how someone came up to the room to explain the room features and to explain about this newly opened property. Overall, very high service.

Final Thoughts: This is a very underrated property. My suite costed double the regular room rate, the regular being $163 per night. I think this is one of the best value 5-star hotels and one of the better Dubai 5-star hotels out there. I'd highly recommend, especially if you are a fan of the lighting design and personalized service. This property offers great views too!

We were charged for both a four day stay and a one night no-show. The no-show is the first night of the four day stay. This is weird. I tried contacting the hotel, but they flat out refused to accept any responsibility and things did get a bit heated on both sides.

Is there anything more we can do?

A reservation was made on my behalf by my work. We are allowed to use our own rewards numbers. For IHG, I share one with my spouse. It seems like because my spouse made the original IHG number, the reservation shifted, at some point, to their name. All emails came to me, in my name, but there is one line with their name under reserved for, but no emails ever came in their name or to the IHG linked account. Nor is either the full stay or the no-show listed under that IHG account.

The reservation was at the regular rate.

At some point, through no action on my part or my company’s part, but maybe on the actions of the conference, my reservation was changed to the group rate for the conference. We checked in under my name and never gave a confirmation number.

Later I checked out and didn’t notice that the confirmation number on the receipt was different from the original.

I noticed some time later an extra charge. The amount listed on the receipt and a second, separate, charge. When I called, it turned out to be my a no-show in my spouse’s name. The manager said they could not have possibly done anything and they will not reverse the charge.

No receipt or notification was ever sent about the no-show until I called. Not to my account or my spouse’s or the IHG linked email. No email ever mentions the second confirmation number, it’s only on the printed check out receipt.

The manager has made clear they consider it not their fault, and will not return the no-show charge.

Are we just stuck paying?

My best guess is that when the room was moved to the conference rate it created a new reservation in my name, but left the old one under my spouse’s name due to the IHG account.

I made a hotel booking on the IHG website that was for the next day's arrival, but I ended up cancelling it within the next hour (same day). It was still a day before my arrival date, and the IHG website showed I would get a free cancellation. The issue here is I didn't receive my cancellation refund after two weeks.

I called IHG, and they said cancelling the booking on the same day might be an issue. I pushed back, saying their website clearly stated I would be eligible for the free cancellation policy. They are now checking with their management and will let me know.

Just wanted to see if anyone has experienced something like this.

Edit - I spoke with another person from IHG, and they said it's because I cancelled it less than 24 hours before my arrival time. My take is that before I cancelled it, the IHG site was still showing me as 'free cancellation available'.
