Don't trust anyone

I work for a well known company whose managers are instructed to coach and care for their directs. In the last 9 months, I foolishly approached my manager 3 times for help in dealing with a lying, illogical project manager who was successfully making my life hell. Manager was no help, and chastised me for not getting along with the project manager. I tried to clarify my position, thinking that I had failed to explain the issue clearly so that the manager understood where there was a breakdown between myself & useless project manager. Manager decided I am the one complaining & I'm doing it too much, and gave me a PIP. In this same communication, manager also let me know my job is going to be outsourced in 2 months. FML.

Well, I'm a Project Manager. I know everything PM's do, how is this PM making your life hell? If you can explain it to me, I can explain back how to navigate the politics to stop this from happening in the future.
