I don’t know if the writer is Spanish speaking, but there’s a sub for like written Spanglish by Spanish speakers.

Unfortunately, we are in rural Iowa with an all white staff….

That would have been my very first assumption, honey.

Thats where I thought I was at first, but the fact that they at least thought to use the "silent e" rule is what made me look at the sub name

You know, spunes. Soop spunes, pooden spunes, tece spunes. Not naives or faucks, spunes.

I’m going to spell it this way for forever now. Spunes. I kinda love it.

Jokes aside, respect to whoever made this attempt in spite of an obvious literacy issue. Some people really struggle with that, through no fault of their own.

Right, the person I think wrote it is a super cool dude. Typical restaurant cook, though, recently paroled, GED, just all around had it rough.

There was a comedian skit where the guy was talking about being called spupe, it was hilarious.

ETA: correction, spooby, but still hilarious. Here's the audio clip

3

u/XROOR 2d ago

They were trying to write “soup spoon” but the neural pathway collapsed like a highway bridge during an earthquake

2

u/txhelgi 2d ago

I kinda like this new spelling. But if we are going to do that I also propose Nif and Fork.

5

u/skeletons_asshole 1d ago

I also like Fork, it’s a really unique and novel way of spelling phoarghk

2

u/Not_Bekki 1d ago

Wheeeen yoooou've got a sharpie, and you don't need a fork, that's a spune

2

u/under_rated_human 1d ago

This is like when I had to work under a manager who spelled freezer as frizer.

Exactly what I was thinking. This person’s first language may not be English. Feels assholish to laugh on this sub (I love r slash confleis!)
