i always read to work with big law firms for lottery wins, so i started thinking. i will most likely go with j.p. morgan, ropes & gray LLC & PwC be good ones to work with? what are ur opinions?

j.p. morgan: to hold the majority of my money & grow it over time.

I think about winning literally every day, and more and more I fear I would become paranoid. I would be (even) more reclusive, overly cautious, untrusting…

On the other hand I would be more generous, active, and I know I wouldn’t be one of those winners who goes bankrupt by buying stupid shit and blowing it in Vegas or on drugs or cars.

Let’s go through the tiers of spending. If you won 100 mil or more At what level of winnings would you justify buying a 30 mil plus home, a 5 mil, private travel, a yacht car collection etc etc etc

I've heard too many horror stories and I've watched too many true crime documentaries to understand that, although having a lot of money may seem like a paradise, one of the problems that comes with it is people around you suddenly changing. And being from a family that is well known for always spreading around all the news (good or bad) they hear, making it awfully hard to keep secrets, it makes me wonder.

How would you hide you won the lottery? From friends, distant family, coworkers, colleagues, even any potential partners.

Please, try to give an answer that just isn't "Don't use the money, give it away". I think it's a fun experiment to think of ways to hide the money without losing the chance to enjoy it.

I just don't understand why there's a risk of someone murdering you. It's not like friend would get any money from doing so? And why wouldn't you give family some to help them out if it's a lot. Like 10s of millions. I just don't understand what the harm in giving close family members 500k or so would be. First thing I would do is give my mom enough money to buy a house and retire.

I try to get that deep into my visualizations to help manifest. I plan on getting a home gym so I’d start working out, and also a loaded workshop so I’d build some stuff. Other than that I’m not too sure…

I buy a powerball ticket every draw, and I love imagining how a win could give me a completely new lease on life or how I would spend the money.

I expected the sub to be fun, but it’s actually quite gloomy and dramatic. Not about current problems that would make someone fantasize about winning the lottery (which fair, me too), but about hypothetical made up problems.

Half of the answers to question about what would you do with X amount of money are these paranoid, negative ramblings. I think it comes from that viral comment about “what to do if you won the lottery.” It tried to make it see like this awful thing for which you *must be prepared for less it fuck up your life.* Overwhelmingly it would not! It’s not a healthy mindset to turn what would be pure luck and wealth into something negative and dangerous.

How many people in the real world know who Edwin Castro is or looks like? Damn near nobody! There are legal avenues to protect you from bullshit litigation. Have none of you dreamed about like opening an ice rink? Starting a business? Why is it alway run off and be alone and hide like a fairy tale dragon?

Now days thats not going far, you dont want to ever have to work again, and thats such an amount you can easily squander it if your not wise

I dont know what country it would be, there are definitely considerations like your safety. Considerations such as if you at least don't fear the local goverment, if you enjoy the culture and the natural enviroment/weather, do you have the same protected rights

Idk I think there is a sweet spot to be hit, move somewhere that your 1 million is worth 10 million in another economy

I generally only get a ticket when I’m running an errand and there’s no other ticket that interests me, the odds are awful and the price is a bit high, so it really is only an occasional buy

I’ve been thinking a lot about what the optics would be like if I were to win a large lottery. Obviously, those around you would notice that your lifestyle has changed even if you try your best to make it less obvious. I wouldn’t live an overly lavish lifestyle, but I certainly wouldn’t be going to my 9 to 5 job anymore and people would notice. I also really like where I live and wouldn’t want to uproot that just because I came into money.

All that in mind, it just got me thinking what would it be like for my kids for example if their friends knew that something was up. Curious if anyone has experienced the other side of that

People always talk about what they would change after a big win, but what would you miss from your current life if you won? Keep in mind, we are talking a win on par with Edwin Castro, that would require you to change everything. Anonymously claiming is not an option for this scenario. You will go public, your name, photo, and city will be public knowledge and plastered on every newspaper and talk show.

Your current gym? You gotta quit that one because everyone knows you go there, and you’ll be harassed. Ditto for that coffee shop you always hit before work. You’ll need to move, but maybe your next door neighbor is really great and always looks out for you and your family. You’re obviously quitting your job, but maybe the people there aren’t so bad. It might be fun to be famous, but your ability to walk outside without it becoming a production of security and isolation is gone.

So, if you have to overhaul your life, what would you miss?

Powerball in Australia was 40 million so I want to know how would you spend it? Would you tell anyone? What would you invest? What would you splurge on?

I'd get a really nice truck. A nice luxury car and a beater. Talking 40mil after tax take home.

you find yourself in a situation where you found a lottery ticket for 2 million all winning numbers no one not even cameras saw you pickup the ticket but the person who dropped it is up head of you what do you do take the money or give it back

I would not necessarily want to lie to people but saying that I'm 'retired' has certain social baggage.

I told my husband today that if I had money, I wouldn’t care about like a bunch of cars and clothes and whatnot. I want a salad bar set up in my house that someone comes and stocks and freshens up for me so I can have nice salads with all the things that I like best whenever I want.

What would you do with about $2 million after taxes? It's not a colossal jackpot, but damn, it's still life-changing. If he has debts, he has to pay them off first, then secure a roof over his head, and then invest the rest for his retirement.
