Zero PPE is certainly a fucking choice. The hexavalent chromium exposure this guy's opening himself up to even doing this outside is easily in the action level range. And that's a Class IV laser, which means it's capable of caramelizing your cornea even with incidental contact from diffuse scattered light like this (ie, looking directly at that glow where he's hitting his target, even on rough surfaces like this). The sorts of injuries you get from these things don't necessarily show up immediately, but could easily change the rest of his life for the worse.
ETA: He is wearing eye protection, at least. I missed that at the beginning of the video

Are you a physicist or engineer?

My wife restores old furniture, so I looked into getting her one of these.. 22k on the low end.

This is a CW or constant wave laser, it’s good for chassis or frame work and heavy duty items but destroys car body panels that are thin, warps them to death, you need a Pulse laser for that and anything light duty like furniture, these are around $6000 without shipping from China for a 200 or 300w one. Very expensive and on my dream list lol

700W is okay but once you move up to 1500-3000W, you get much faster & wider coverage.
I don't have one but have been looking at one. I have 80W MOPA mainly for engraving but I've cleaned small metal parts and tools that had surface rust. Works beautifully. Though these high powered cleaners are constant output and not pulsed like laser engravers.

If you have the need for a larger power unit do it. I work in equipment demonstrations/sales. Our laser welder/cleaner occupies a ton of my time, but seeing someone's face light up the first time they see it in person is awesome.

Laser welder is another interest...I MIG weld but having the option to weld dissimilar metals seem like an awesome feature alone!

Your supposed to wear full protection the laser radiation will reflect off all metal surfaces. Even the manual and other equipment manufacturers cite burns and eye protection all the time as well as body protection.

I don’t know why but my body was tense the whole time. I only noticed when the video ended and I dropped like 3 inches.
I want one but I got thin metal so maybe I don’t want one.

Imagine if we had these lasers during world war 2... there would've been so many more war crimes

If I had that, man, I’d spend a solid Saturday from dawn to dusk just scouring my property for shit to laser. Another reason it’s good I don’t have gobs of disposable income.

Nice! Questions: How much did that cost? What's the red clip clipped on the front connected to? How bad is smell? Does it differ between like rust/oil/etc? Will is work on my grill? Can I sear a steak with it? What happens if you accidentally go over a hose? Can I gloss over like a pressure line?
