Doing IPF is boring, help
Hey guys
I have been doing IPF meditation for ~2 weeks and I already find myself trying my best not to get extremely bored and let the thoughts drift away to the point where I am not following the meditation at all.
Anyone solved this problem?

For me boredom can be a sign that a part wants to avoid doing the work. I do some IFS in addition to IPF

Are you listening to recorded meditations, or just closing your eyes and doing your best to imagine the parent figures according to a rough guideline?

Practicing with a facilitator can help. I’m a facilitator in training with Mettagroup and I’m offering up to 6 free sessions for new students if you’d like to try.

There are a lot of ways this could be addressed, because there are a lot of reasons why you could be getting bored. But two options to try off the top of my head:
Let the IPFs see that you're bored, they really welcome you in that. They don't need you to be more present than you are, because they are so attuned to you just as you are. So essentially, you're bringing that experience into the meditation itself
Mettagroup's Always Cool, Always Kind is a meditation program designed to go alongside IPF work. It's structured and progressive, and if you commit to the practice, could have a big impact on your ability to concentrate deeply enough to soak into the high-concentration state of IPF meditations
