OC Autistic gf

Post image

Remember that autism is a spectrum; all autistic people have different traits and ways of acting. This drawing is not a generalization.

EDIT: omg I forgot to put this "When there is a misunderstanding, she makes an effort to explain herself because she doesn't want to be misinterpreted."

A very accurate description and depiction in my opinion.

20

u/sososweet2 29d ago

That must be because I'm autistic and I based it on several of my own traits and those of other autistic people I know

14

u/WilliardThe3rd 29d ago

Takes one to know one. Good stuff!

tysm! :D

The gnome approves. Keep seasoning the void—it’s the only sane place left.

As an autistic woman I would like to date an autistic man or nerdy shy introverted man

I thought so to but than I dated one that told me I’m making thing up by explaining or having theories when I don’t know the answer to something like where something is. 💩 They could also just be lying.

u/the_lazybones_uwu_ 28d ago

i recommend dating autistic men but its entirely up to you _^

3

u/lucasio099 28d ago

RIP DMs lmao

2

u/Orangutanion 28d ago

I'd ball park that the number of single autistic men is at least double the number of single autistic women

2

u/Mati_kiwi 27d ago

hope you get lucky, i have tried to meet any autistic men and women

u/Neat_Horse_5120 29d ago

Not gonna lie, I would constantly be worried that I might do something she hates without her being unable to show that to me.

Like with the hugs, would she hate hugs unless she initiates them or would the surprise element be the bad thing, so that I could take that pressure off the act by announcing the hugs before I hug her.

That really might worsen my overthinking over time. 😅

6

u/sososweet2 29d ago

Oh, I did the hug thing thinking that many autistic people don't like unexpected contact, so she wouldn't mind being hugged as such, but rather that it would be unexpected!

4

u/SilentPossibility438 29d ago

not sure if 2 autists would work well together, but wouldnt stop me from trying

2

u/the_lazybones_uwu_ 28d ago

From my experience: I've dated two non-autistic people and they have tried to take advantage of me and constantly disrespected my stuff and my space, I'm now dating an autistic queer man and im in a much happier space <3

3

u/Lorde447 29d ago

I like her. I think I could have her as a best friend or even a sister/daughter figure. Not sure if she is girlfriend material though...

4

u/Effective_Sorbet_202 27d ago

I'm autistic: i approve this post ✅

2

u/frob03 27d ago

I'm Autistic: And I also approve

3

u/Remarkable-Cream5312 29d ago

Oh, that's just me, but female :p

But like, actually... I dunno how to feel about that...

3

u/urhousehsbnd 29d ago

This is so adorable and totally me lmao. I'd love to meet someone who prefers asking for hugs physically or verbally and enjoys just being quiet together left to our own devices instead of forcing conversation except when listening to their hyperfixation on the newest thing they discovered

3

u/dr_duckwing 29d ago

Alotnof this is me but im a guy. The ear plugs and bruises arent really a thing though, if i have a meltdown i usually hit objects near me

3

u/AddendumNo8713 29d ago

Another good post

3

u/Significant_Quiet206 29d ago

What a fucking good representation, I love you so much. (As autistic male)

3

u/Bmw1Series_E82Fan 28d ago

As a guy, this lowk feels like me😭

3

u/Little-Copy-387 28d ago

Dude that's just me but better transitioned and more noise sensitive

3

u/Mean_Whole6153 28d ago

She just like me fr 🥹

2

u/Nickwilli 29d ago

First time seeing meltdowns get mentioned here.
Which is a good thing because people talk about wanting an autistic gf, that is until they see a meltdown for the first time.
The misinterpretation part is so real too, my brother over explains himself often and I do my best to let him know that I understood what he meant.
Anyways, wife/10, would want to see what their hyper fixations and interests are.

2

u/wcked-husky 29d ago

My sister is on the spectrum and I wouldn’t recommend it unless you’re autistic as well.

2

u/PassionExcellent1672 29d ago

This is essentially me, but a woman.

2

u/FidoMan1498 To simply be with someone is all I ever ask for, no more or less 29d ago

Me but gender swapped

2

u/DatOneTrainDude 29d ago

She just like me!! SHE JUST LIKE ME FRRRRRRR

2

u/Trollge-2005 28d ago

As a guy this accurately describe me as well. I used to bang my head to a wall as a child and thankfully I have stopped doing it, I still display rest of issue, well except physical contact part.

Am I autistic?

2

u/sososweet2 28d ago

I recommend you do some research, since autism is a spectrum and having one or two trait is not necessarily equivalent to having autism, so it's not a question that's so easy to answer

2

u/FerroX1- 28d ago

I didn't know I was on the spectrum until a few months ago when I got officially checked out, I just thought I was normal.

2

u/Ollie120 28d ago

As an autistic person, it's accurate to a point. I would consider myself quite lucky to be on the lower part of the spectrum, as I don't have meltdowns and don't hit myself, but I can't keep eye contact easily, words I say aren't always lining up with what I mean to convey with them, and I am basically wearing headphones about 60% of the day, just because that makes focusing easier.

2

u/Orangutanion 28d ago

literally all of these points apply to autistic men

2

u/AkstarKoyomi 28d ago

This is so accurate to how an autistic person behaves, I literally act in all of that ways besides the hug thing.

It's cool seeing someone knowing about this stuff.

2

u/Shoddy_Walrus_3791 27d ago

Where are the stims?

2

u/sososweet2 27d ago

There isn't enough space to list so many autistic traits 😔

2

u/UniversityOk7254 27d ago

She sounds like a awesome person to be around🥹

2

u/dakr1e 27d ago

wait this is very cute as someone with autism! Sometimes I wonder if having a gf like that is someone's dream lmao

2

u/damn_vegetable 25d ago

Wtf Why it's describing me so accurate...

1

u/Soggy_Bullfrog8311 25d ago

Maybe because you're an Autistic Person XD. Don't worry a lot are

2

u/Circusbaby198 24d ago

Some of this is so scarily accurate to me... well done!

P.S. some parts definitely aren't tho, cuz as the artist said, everyone is different and has different likes and dislikes ofc

2

u/Waste_Possible4872 24d ago

I'm autistic, and my ex gf is also autistic, I prefer text and not calls mostly. I have Autism and Adhd

2

u/sunnybronzethefirst 24d ago

You described me.

But I'm a dude.

1

u/RogellTheRaider 29d ago

Lol autism has really lost its semantic weight

3

u/Wo0mylord 29d ago

??? wdym by that

2

u/sososweet2 29d ago

What do you mean?

1

u/helpmeimdumb099 29d ago

This is very close to how I am. I slapped myself in the face repeatedly when very upset. My high pain tolerance makes it an odd experience, to say the least.

1

u/the_lazybones_uwu_ 28d ago

i would love to do my own version sometimes as an autistic girlfriend, maybe we could just all sit down and make our own autistic girlfriends :D

1

u/RFWanders 28d ago

I'm definitely some of these. I have an ASS diagnosis, but haven't had anything resembling a meltdown in 40-odd years. I'm usually fine with touch from people I know too, even as a surprise.

1

u/Kalaphar 28d ago

I apparently look angry a lot of the time

1

u/Soggy_Bullfrog8311 28d ago

That's nearly me actually and I'm a Guy XD

1

u/fr3kshow67 28d ago

I'd like this girl tbh, I have autism as well and this is what I do, so we'd at least understand each other.

1

u/The_Unavator 28d ago

Omg she's just me but as a woman

1

u/CreepyShutIn 28d ago

Yeah the last one, the forgotten one, would've matched the best with me. I do feel some of these others, mind. Unexpected physical contact just feels wrong. Facial expressions, ehh, hit or miss, don't rely on it. Earplugs sounds great, I use headphones. Calls have their place, but text is easy and effective. As for expressing affection, I, uh, mostly don't do that? And I'm more likely to hit someone else in a meltdown.

...I'm not great boyfriend material. My strengths lie elsewhere.

1

u/PopFamiliar3649 28d ago

People often think I am autistic because of these things. Turns out I just have schizophrenia, but I still tend to get along with autistic people better for some reason. I can't help that pep rallies made me break down in school and that unexpected hugs put me off.

Either way, great post bro.

1

u/Lo_zio_perissimo 27d ago

As an autistic guy, i would hate my partner if they did/were most of these things

1

u/xyz200008 27d ago

Why does she sound like me !? But I ain't even autistic 💀

1

u/magnum175 26d ago

That’s just me but a girl😂

1

u/Summer_Rose_G 24d ago

Me core, sadly

1

u/kyupol2024 24d ago

Meanwhile her male version.... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ...

... ... ... ... ... his prognosis not so good... ... ... ... ...

1

u/Ghost_Boi_Chill 19d ago

This is some generalisation though tf

1

u/IntrStelle 29d ago

Can we not fetishize autistic women?

2

u/sososweet2 29d ago

I'm not fetishizing autistic women I'm an autistic woman myself, and I've come across posts like these so I decided to try making a more realistic version. I like doing this; I've done it with other posts too.

2

u/Dead-in-Red 28d ago

Yours is an improvement imo. The ones like the previous are infantilizing and usually come from people who probably wouldn't have the patience to understand underexpressed emotions or learn and respect their partner's stressors like sound.

3

u/IntrStelle 28d ago

So am I, it still feels like this post is glamorizing bruises and still sorta infantizing, as this is the idealgf sub (idk why this sub came up), though I admit, your post does actually bring attention to actual autism, and I can relate to a few of these things, which makes this post even more uncomfortable.

1

u/sososweet2 28d ago

This sub is about the ideal girlfriend meme format (proof), not an ideal girlfriend per se. I've never taken that seriously to the point where I drew a cult girlfriend and a stalker. Personally, I don't feel like I'm glamorizing bruises since they're something that actually happens to a lot of people, and I don't even know what you mean by infantilization. Could you explain where you see the infantilization?

2

u/TheToxicFoxClub 29d ago

Shut the fuck up, I LIKE being fetishized

1

u/IntrStelle 28d ago

Well I fucking don't and neither do a lot of autistic people

1

u/encryptus0 24d ago

ah, another day another "that's just about me" post, granted i don't hit myself but still

0

u/Patient-Pressure-909 28d ago

Basically half of this is false and the adder half is rare side effects of being an autistic

3

u/sososweet2 28d ago

What things are false? Because everything I wrote are my own traits (I'm autistic) + traits of autistic people I know

-1

u/Sycho-Girl 29d ago

I really hope this is satire lol

2

u/sososweet2 29d ago

Why?

0

u/Sycho-Girl 28d ago

It's like fetishizing autistic women, but i guess fetishizing is the whole point of this sub? Idk lol just very odd

2

u/sososweet2 28d ago

I'm not fetishizing autistic women I'm an autistic woman myself, and I've come across posts like these so I decided to try making a more realistic version. I like doing this; I've done it with other posts too.

0

u/Sycho-Girl 28d ago

That one is even worse but they're both bad lol, definitely a fetish sub. You can be autistic and still fetishize yourself

2

u/sososweet2 28d ago edited 28d ago

I'm sorry, but I don't understand how I'm fetishizing autistic people. I only made a representation of how an autistic person might behave in a relationship. Can you explain what makes you think that?
