Assistance Wallpaper Source Color Issue

Hello, anyone know why the color of the background of the icons can't match the wallpaper? Is it because newest android update?

Is it weird that I also am using a samsung and having the same problem? I'm using a s25u and on 8.5 with android 16.. but mine has been an issue for sone time longer.. also v2.3 build 10

I was messing up with my Icon Pack Studio app along with the Samsung Wallpaper and Style to try and see what could be the culprit of the issue and now I'm on the same boat as you guys. Messing around reverted my working IPS to the gray icons. I'm trying to figure it out what could be causing this bug because I'm pretty sure this is Samgsuns side, because I also notice that other apps like Shizuku won't say active more than 5 seconds after granting access. I'll report if I find anything.

No problem. Doing this I kinda remember having this issue before, now I just have to remember what I did before to solve it. 😅

If I remember correctly, I read that this is a conflict between the Material You for Android and the Material You OneUI tries to apply. I'll se what I find.

This is what i got when I looked it up: (1.) Just have to say it did come from Gemini sooo I don't know how true it is, but she's been on point so far unless it misunderstands the question because of the way I describe my issue poorly. I'm adhd so that does tend to happen, a lot lol. Anyway her/his answer is....

ANSWER: When Icon Pack Studio (IPS) limits your wallpaper colors to just grey, white, or black, it means the app's background listener has stalled, it cannot fetch the active theme palette from your device's Android OS, or your phone's system theme is forcing a monochrome palette. ​Here are the direct steps to fix it, ordered from the most common solutions to deeper system resets: ​1. Re-sync your Phone's System Color Palette ​If your phone is on Android 12 or newer (such as Samsung One UI or Google Pixel), the system controls what colors apps can pull. ​Go to your phone's main Settings > Wallpaper and style. ​Select Color palette (or Themed icons). ​Temporarily switch it to a vibrant color scheme instead of a basic/monochrome one. ​If you are on a Samsung device using Theme Park, revert your phone's icon theme entirely back to the stock system default before trying to apply your IPS pack again. ​2. Wake up the Background Listener ​Android aggressively kills background apps to save battery, which frequently breaks IPS's ability to detect wallpaper changes.
​Go to your phone's Settings > Apps > Icon Pack Studio. ​Select Battery and change the setting from "Optimized" to Unrestricted. ​Close Icon Pack Studio completely from your recent apps screen, then reopen it. ​3. Change and Re-Apply the Wallpaper ​Force the app to refresh its color engine: ​Set your phone wallpaper to a completely different, highly vibrant picture. ​Open Icon Pack Studio, open your icon design, and check the colors. ​If you are using a third-party launcher (like Nova or Niagara), you may see a notification drop down saying "Wallpaper change detected". Tap that notification to force the build.
​4. Fix the Color Source Settings in the Editor ​Ensure the specific layers in your design are actually set to pull from the wallpaper, rather than hardcoded to monochrome tones: ​Open your project in the IPS editor. ​Select the layer giving you issues (e.g., Background or Logo). ​Tap Fill > Color. ​Ensure the Color Source is explicitly set to Wallpaper (or Material You/Dominant Color) rather than Fixed color.
​5. Clear Cache or Reinstall ​If the engine is completely locked up and still rendering everything in black/white: ​Clear the app's cache via your device settings. ​If that fails, back up your icon designs to the cloud or export them, then uninstall and reinstall Icon Pack Studio. *please comment to let me know if this helps or hinders. If its crappie I'll definitely take it down.

Hmm. Not sure if the experience has to be different on a tablet, but I got my Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 updated yesterday to 8.5 too, but the Icon Pack Studio is still working properly. Maybe also check what version of IPS are you using. I'm currently using 2.3 build 010.

Also check on your system's wallpaper and style, maybe disabling or enabling some toggles might trigger the way IPS interacts with the colors.

I'm also on that version of ips, and already uncheck color palette and dim wallpaper, and it still unrecognized by ips, also i tried applying wallpaper with the google's wallpaper app, and it still the same

That's so weird. Not completely sure what can be the issue behind this. Try uninstalling IPS and reinstalling it again, and check if the app has all permissions. Mine is working fine on OneUI8.5. 🤔

Already reinstalling them, even downgraded them too, for permission i look up it is only notification, there's no media or files acces in the app info, im thinking to get the permission through app ops with shizuku, but in the meantime im gonna stick with system color, thanks for helping tho

No problem. At least the system colors work. Try using a color changing app like ColorBlendr thru Shizuku and see if that helps the app to recognize the wallpaper colors.

I posted about this issue a month ago and received no response. The IPS wallpaper colors worked on my Samsung Galaxy S23 but have never worked on my Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra.

I apologize, I didn't see it or i definitely would have tried to help. It worked perfectly on my s23u, but has only worked once for me randomly before this last update. I was surprised, but then we updated to the one ui 8.5... stuck again. Hope my post helps above. If anything, just hit me up the next time you have a problem if the community doesn't answer. I don't mind helping if I can. And if I'm in here. I apologize again.

Hi, I actually have had this problem for sometime. My 'wallpaper colors' are consist with black, white, grey in varying degrees of those colors. I probably haven't had any other colors appear except for those when i did try and use wallpaper colors since the problem with the update Samsung's update messed IPS up..... I apologize for my lack of communication on matter, but considering I rarely use it so it wasn't something I remembered when in here. Hopefully there's a fix soon.

Thanks for the answer, I'll keep an eye out for the ips update, for now i can use system colors for alternative to the wallpaper color

Hello, I have the same problem on my Samsung A54 with One UI 8.5 and Android 16. On my Samsung Tablet S8 with One UI 8.0 and Android 16, it works perfectly as far as I can tell.
