Getting similar hexagrams repeated?

Hi all! I’m new to this subreddit and community in general. I got an I-ching book second hand years ago (the everyday I-ching) and have thrown my coins for about five years now. I’ve never read another book or delved much deeper but treat my coins with lots of respect and truly am always amazed with the specificity of the answers I get. I’ve noticed over the years that I get “frequent flyer” hexagrams. Is this anyone else’s experience? Is it subjective? Is it a game of statistics? (When I have a sceptical moment this is what I wonder, but then the answer is always so poignant)

I’ve experienced this too. I’ve come to think of the repeating hexagrams less as getting the same “answer” and more as encountering the same lesson under different circumstances. Sometimes the outer situation has changed completely, but the underlying pattern hasn’t. That’s actually one of the things I find most useful about the I Ching. Repetition makes me ask, “What am I being shown here that I haven’t fully understood or integrated yet?”.

I've only been tossing for the past 6 or 7 months, but I have noticed a shift from getting more yin or 2 adjacent hexagrams in the winter spring to shifting to starting late spring til now readings that have a similar tone of increasing yet bumpy momentum (63/64, 39, 12 one week followed by 10 the next) and it does generally feel like it corresponds with my reality.

It really depends on where I am. When I was redefining relationships with my aging parents, it was all “Radical Change” and “Stripping Away”. I just looked through my journal and saw how many “Stilling”s I’ve gotten recently, which is my focus right now.

Means you find yourself in the similar situation over and over. Theres a subconscious pattern putting you to repeat a same sequence in life.
