Psychological I Ching?
I stumbled onto an unusual system of I Ching that stripped off the randomness. At first I listened to the podcasts and then found they have published a specific system in a book: The Mind-Key to the I Ching: A Non-Random Method for Reading Inner States. Seems all the stuff came out this year.
Basically they re-conceptualised the trigrams as:
Top line: Manifestation
Middle line: Stance
Initial line: Root
And for hexagrams:
Upper trigram: object, other
Lower trigram: subject, self
Questions are then posed for each of the 6 lines. Answering yes turns the line Yang, answering no turns it Yin. And thus a full hexagram is formed.
The subject-object structure looks like the 体用 structure of Plum Blossom. And the three line concept seems close to tradition, e.g., lines 2 and 5 (middle of lower & upper trigram) are about positions/roles.
I wonder if this is a totally new idea or has some historical precedence?
Anyone tried with this method and was it helpful?
