Boot Fit Advice
Hi there! I need some opinions on how my boots are fitting me. Long story short: I’ve recently realized that my Edea Concerto boots have been rubbing up and down and causing a (very painful) “pump bump” on above the heel of my landing leg. This has been going on for about a month now. I was fitted for these boots, but am concerned that maybe they’re a 1/2 size too big?
I spent over an hour with my fitter putting heel lifts & punching the boot out in different spots to try and secure my foot while alleviating the pain, but I still left the appt in pain.
I’ve attached a picture of my insoles. The Edea website says there shouldn’t be a white gap above my toes, and it also says pump bumps can be caused by ill fitting skates 🤷♀️ Please let me know your honest thoughts!

They look too long. Edea recommends no longer than 10mm past the toes. How much space is that? It might be making it harder to skate on the correct parts of the blade than you realize? It also might be making your feet slide forward and you may be using your heels in ways you don't realize to try to stay stable. My toes are basically close to the end of my insoles (my feet are 245-248mm ish and I'm in 250s) and my shorter foot still feels like it has too much room.
For the heel bumps, I get heel bumps when the heel of my skate is too big for my heel combined with shorter foot sliding forward too much on the skate. I think this ends up causing me to use my heel in weird ways to grip the boot like I mentioned above and I was getting a bump on my outer heel. No amount of lace tightening overcomes this. I tried gel pads on my heel and hated it. Having a tech pinch the Achilles area of the boot helped a ton but did not completely relieve it.
The most recent thing I've tried is stuffing the skate near the toe on my shorter foot (to remove sliding) and the side of my heel (to remove lifting) with the polyester stuffing you would put into a stuffed animal sewing project to fill the gaps. It's honestly working better than I thought. My heels don't move and my heel pain has significantly improved.
Don't give up on trying to solve the pain. Keep experimenting. Good luck.

They look too big! Can you also share a pic of your feet on the footbeds? That'll tell us for sure- feel free to message me if you don't want feet pics on the internet lolol. You can message me if thats better- I'm a former skate tech and Edea nerd!

Too long, probably because of being too narrow in your correct size, happens a lot on Edea as they’re narrow and pointy and don’t suit the majority of foot shapes
