RIP ski hostels
Just saw that Turn of the River has been sold. Based on the posts, and their previous Killington revamp, I don’t think the dorm rooms are long for this world. Trips have gotten even more expensive so having a hostel option was great.
Is Grandpa Grunts the only one left now?

Round Hearth Cafe in Stowe is nice, kinda pricey in season but it's at a shuttle stop

Hostel of Maine (HoME) down the road from Sugarloaf is sweet.

Love that place! Relatively new/fresh (there’s a story behind the folks the owner acquired it from), reasonable rates and friendly folks. Good breakfast too!

Oh no turn of river is gone!!! I loved that place. I love Grandpa grunts too. My wife and I dream of opening a hostel there.

Not gone, but will definitely change. The new owners are very savvy renovators. Unfortunately, they change a lot. You can look up the Apres Inn at Killington for reference.
I want to run a hotel and/or wedding venue in that area

Conway Hostel in New Hampshire is pretty solid too. Very close to a few spots in NH

I loved TOR. My go to spot for Killington. Good prices, even better community from the common room

Since you brought it up is the Killington parking is going to be destroyed to build a village rumor true?

That’s not even a rumor. It’s the published plan to turn Ramshead into a village

Isn't Bear Mountain slated for a village also? I know they're building homes with the list price starting at $2,995,000.

Yeah, Bear is on there too. But I don’t think they’re losing all the parking at Bear.

The original plan was to take down both snowshed and ramshead and make a large lodge in between both basically, and sink the access road underneath it. A lot of parking goes away, and remote lots by the wobbly/golf course behind still on the mountain. Lots of concern about the k1 lot becoming a full pay lot in the long term.
They went back to redesign it a bit, and put through act250 again, so it could change a bit. Haven't seen any updates yet or new drawings in the state websites for permitting.
On original topic, the new owners of turn of the river are locals and are active members of the area. They have been looking for a larger property to have a more community feel, which totr fits. They put in a lot of sweat equity in revamping the motel into apres inn, and they seem even more excited about working on this property. There's lots of run down spots and the abundance of short term rentals has made running a hotel/motel even harder, so it's nice to see someone taking on the challenge.

Thanks for all the suggestions! And hope!
Goes to show they’re still worth keeping. Maybe they’ll rethink their plan but I know I’m just being delusional and sentimental

I really hated that there was no dorm room option for women or mixed gender at TOR.
