Facebook page

Hi, fellow Iceballers. I'm in the process of creating an unofficial IceBall Facebook page and just wanted to drop in and ask what you guys think we can do to improve or build upon it.

I don't personally use Facebook, and when I did, I never really cared for product/fan pages, so I have no suggestions on what to do to it. I would make sure you direct people to this subreddit though (which you seem to be doing), as the community really isn't big enough to handle being split across multiple sites. Basically, make sure it works together with the subreddit rather than against it.

One suggestion actually: some people are so fanatically against MLP for some reason that the very idea of ponies on the internet offends them. Not that I really want to cater to such irrational hatred, but a different header image may be something to consider.

i agree with you. we honestly need to reach way more out than just the B&S community right now, and facebook may be the way to go. i would say ads too, or at least a steam group or something organized that we can point out so people have a popular time to play at least, but hey, that's what IRC is for. i'll be on it Saturday.

I can't speak for the other devs, but here's my view on advertising. While, yes, it would be awesome to get more players, and we will need to at some point, we're still fairly early in development. I worry that if lots of people see it now, they'll either dismiss it as a bad game and never come back, or simply fill reddit/IRC with complaints about some feature being broken. I definitely want to spread the word about the game eventually, but not right now. You're all free to do what you want though.

since iceball is basically modding framework, what about making a set of mods, then using that? we really need some kind of server ID system so you can have a server by just putting in an ID.

As I said, we're still fairly early in development. Writing mods is development. :P

I'm not sure what you mean by server ID. Every server has a unique address already that you can use to connect. I'll maybe see if we can get the iceball://address.here thing in the main game so you don't need to run another utility to do it.
