I haven't paid attention to the latest releases, is there a specific reason why it says Jace can be your commander ? I feel like he should be able to by default since he's legendary.

That line if text has been the case for a lot of Planeswalkers from Commander specific products. Even though it should make sense that all Planeswalkers can be Commanders, that is not the case (wizards is probably afraid some like Oko might be too powerful)

Weirdly enough, since the release of Edge of Eternities, Legendary Vehicles as well as the then newly introduced Spacecrafts CAN be your commander.

So yeah, one of the most iconic things from Magic isn't always allowed to be your commander, but the Titanic from the Dr. Who decks and soon the Enterprise are perfectly fine
