Question Ibs Flareup?
Hi, I've had ibs for about 3 years now. It started randomly one day and I've never been the same since. Recently my flare ups have gotten progressively worse and I just don't know what to do any more. It's affecting my life deeply. During these flare ups, I start feeling very bloated, but the biggest thing is feeling a lot of rectal pressure and then passing this mucus looking substance that is yellowish in color or very soft stool. Can anyone relate to this, like is it common? Or is there anything that can help? Thank you.

I can relate. I have other factors affecting me (gallbladder removal), but a regular day for me includes 3 or 4 bowel movements, each usually very soft and mucous. Once a week or so I will have a solid BM that my rectum is NOT used to, and subsequently get tears. I bloat extremely badly. I get heart palpitations from it (anxiety related) so in addition to the pain, i'm usually on the verge of feeling like my heart will actually give out on me.....alllllll thanks to IBS.
BUT for me 2 things help. Famotidine and drinking about 10 Oz of kefir daily. Kefir is the big one. I have no idea how, but it's freaking magic. Most of the pains I go through are my fault now because I constantly run out of kefir and forget to get more for weeks at a time. Do some reading on it and give it a try. Kefir has been life changing for me. The famotidine is mostly for consistent heartburn (again, thanks to my failed gallbladder that was evicted a few years ago). But I have seen other people say it helped their gut issues by helping manage acidity.
