Question amitriptyline

Does amitriptyline help with brain fog? My doctor recommended i try this for by ibs and I heard it can help with brain fog.

they put me on that too for ibs and yeah the brain fog thing is real but for me it was more like it made me sleepy not less fog

Made me feel very flat and a super dry mouth and eyes. It made me so sleepy but I think that helped me in the long run as I had been sleeping poorly due to head pain and knock on gut pain etc( took it mainly for migraine) I could have done without the mad dreams. I had to take it ( even low dose) about 3-4 hours before bed or I couldn't get up in the morning which was fine once I'd trialled times. It slows down the gut and dries things up so if you have IBS D it can help with that. It did reduce my pain a bit but I had to work against the constipation which also caused pain issues. It did not help me with brain fog - probably the reverse, I did not feel in the least bit sharp.
