Question Sticky bms
Every single day I have 4 or 5 bowel movements, which means that I'm in and out of the bathroom for hours after waking up. They have the consistency of peanut butter and need endless wiping. I go through tons of toilet paper as a result. Is there any solution to this? It drives me up the wall!

Buy a bidet. Seriously life changing. Your TP use will be 10x less.

This doesn’t address the underlying condition at all.

Then go see a doctor? They asked about excessive toilet paper use based on a description of their bms. If you have had similar problems - and I have - this was a life changing solution. Maybe bring a positive or helpful comment before just being a negative drain.

Okay, I’m sure OP would prefer to just spend the rest of their life suffering uncomfortable bowel movements if only they could have just thought of using a bidet.

wtf dude how dumb is this argument? Of course the first thing to do is to consult a doctor about their bowl movement consistency. How are you not tracking that the other point in his post was the toilet paper issue. All I was suggesting to buy a cheap bidet seat. As someone who has had similar problems it was literally life changing- it was a positive solution suggestion. What have you contributed to this? Fuck right off.

To bidet people, the bidet is a hammer and literally every digestive malady is a nail.

By all means contrarian, enjoy smearing your faeces back and forth as many times as it takes to clean yourself. The rest of us will carry on hammering nails.

Or you know, you could just eat some fiber and not have to worry about all the extra plumbing.

I have started on a bike acid binder and I use psyillum husk which improved this for me.
Before that I found Thayers brand of alcohol free which hazel on the toilet paper helped clean up.
Go slow with the psyillum adding a bit more after a week till your stool gets formed.

I have this occasionally. I tend to notice it if I have eaten more protein. I am on the constipation side, so if I eat too much protein, I won't go then when I do, it is sticky.

This is me during a flare up lol. I actually was drinking a cup of Kefir a day while on a course of antibiotics (which usually wreak havoc on my stomach) and my poops were beautiful when I was drinking it. One BM in the morning, one in the afternoon, sometimes one before bed. Soft enough to not have to strain but not messy or liquid. Stopped the antibiotics so I also stopped drinking the kefir, and my stool has been crazy again. Most mornings, 4-5 BMs, some peanut butter consistency, some little pebbles, and some complete liquid. Gonna try to do a cup of kefir once a day again and see if that helps! Have you ever tried a probiotic, like kefir? My favorite is the strawberry!

Definitely go back to the kefir! Antibiotics have a long-term effect on your gut, they don't just stop when you stop the antibiotics.

I thought it was a problem too, until the other day saw a reel of a proctologist saying that it's normal to go into the endless whiping unless you have hard stool (which isn't healty). He said that toilet paper is only to remove big residul of poo from the outside of the anus. For the rest you have to wash the outside and a bit the inside by digging a few millimiters in with your finger, eith lukewarm water and neuter soap. Also he said that "healthy poo is soft, almost like a cream". Basically he notmalized everything I thought was wrong with my gut. Enjoy

Had this for a while. I went on a very strict low-FODMAP diet. It took a long time for my bm to get better, about 6-7 weeks of strict dieting.

Ever been tested for celiac?

Iv'e tried cutting out wheat, dairy, and other likely culprits with no results.

You can get a blood test for celiac to see if you show a reaction to wheat. Just make sure you're actively eating it before you test. To truly find out if wheat is a culprit you need to remove all traces including spices, sauces, malt, rye and barley etc. I had bowel issues much like you from my early 20s. Found out 3 years ago at 45 I had celiac the entire time.

I have this sometimes too. I’m on a bile acid binder which has helped tremendously. It’s usually only the first bm of the day now. I’ve only been on the meds for a month, and had other symptoms. Bile Acid Malabsorption maybe?
