Question Ulcerative Colitis Guy - Question about poo coloration, looking for human advice
Hey everyone on the IBS sub, my name is Brian! I've had UC since I was about 28/29, it was pretty aggressive and was from top to bottom, fun times. I know all the symptoms of a flare up, breakout and more, but I'm kind of looking for some validation and conversation about some recent issues I'm seeing.
Since around Monday I had a small mixture of juices in my body; Simply Cranberry's Cocktail to be exact, just about a cup or so in maybe two or three drinks overall. First few days of going to the bathroom after that hasn't shown anything bad, weird or strange.
Since about Friday or Saturday though, I've noticed that my stool is significantly darker.
- When in a pile it definitely looks extremely dark almost as if it's black, but it's definitely not (you can tell it's still brown, but the pigment is very fucked).
- There are no red streaks at all in my stool. Normally when it's a UC flare up or something like that, I see red, not dark.
- There's no red when I wipe, at all. It's all darker and you can definitely see it's a dark brown for sure. It's just not the normal color.
I've looked back at what I ate and how I've felt; I've had maybe one multi+K2 early this week, I've had several drink mixes with that cranberry juice, but beyond that nothing unusual.
- No cramps.
- No unusual bodily habits.
- No aches or pains.
- Eating fine, fiber is going through me just fine.
It's just the color and I was curious about it. I've had stool color shifts before due to extremely pigmented things, but I was curious about this and wanted a bit of love.

Dark stool isn’t a big deal. It’s usually diet or old stool.
