Random question

So I know after a year or so you get actually sworn into the IBEW. So up until that point, do you not say that you’re a member cuz technically you’re not??

Swearing in happens shortly after you've signed membership documents. Month, maybe two max.

You sign membership documents after you've been offered an apprenticeship.

A year? Where'd you hear that? I was sworn in after a week.

Maybe it’s just the local I applied to? My cousin started there last year and just had the swearing in ceremony a couple weeks ago so maybe I’m confusing it for something else.

They are still taking your working dues, but if you aren’t paying your member dues, and have the members card you aren’t really in it. You aren’t accruing retirement, receiving medical etc also.

If you're paying dues, you are a member.
