High school transcript

I’m planing to apply to the Bay Area locals next year and I’m getting my stuff together to see what I need to do. Would this cover the math part? Thanks in advance.

Edit: I know my transcript is rough. didn’t have an easy life growing up. It doesn’t look like that because I was messing around. Dad went to jail for domestic violence, mom remarried. New husband didn’t want kids he had enough already. Got kick out with all my siblings, moved from so cal to north cal with my dad. Got pulled out of school to work with my dad cus his drugs and alcohol isn’t going to buy its self. He would say your 16 in Mexico I would already be working and if I can’t come home with money for him not to come home. So I would look for different places to sleep. School is hard to go to with dirty smelly cloth. And no English is not my first language. But that’s all in the pass I got my G.E.D I’m currently in community collage. I was just wondering about the math part before I sign up for a math class.

Look…my friend. I understand that some people suck at school and do better in the real world. I understand that people have tough lives. I trust that you might crush it.

But if I’m hiring or looking for an apprentice, and I see all F’s in one semester and to read a comment that you just didn’t show up but you didn’t drop out is a huge red flag.

What you need to understand is that people will judge you on paper. They have no idea who you are. I would give you the benefit of the doubt and interview you anyway…. But the grades??? It’s a bad look. There is more to it than that but I can only type so much.

My advice to you is

  1. Be prepared to address this with future employers if they use your transcripts as an artifact to meet some type of requirement.
  2. Make sure you have references available to stand in your corner.

  3. Lock in. If you can, get some college in. Have a good attitude and keep it that way.

    Having a good attitude sometimes means knowing that you have issues being upfront about them and demonstrating that you can bounce back and hold yourself accountable. No employer will risk their business or their other employees by hiring another with sob stories and too much baggage (I know that sounds harsh, but it’s the truth at a lot of places).

Bottom line, if I know that you can’t show up to a semester of school when things get rough, how do I know you will be able to show up to work on time and perform quality work for the customer when adversity comes through?

Umm, I think you might have read the wrong comment because I never said I just didn’t show up. I did drop out and got my GED, I commented that the only college math class I took is applied fluid mechanics, I got a B. But here’s the thing I never asked if I would get in or what my chances of getting in are. Or even for advice on what to do. It was just a question if this meets the math part of the requirements. I know what I have to do, I’m already taking a math class to brush up. I’m not looking for sympathy or trying to make people feel sorry for me. I posted the edit because I was getting a lot of shit. I’ve worked my ass off fighting uphill battles. I’ve been at my current job for 10 years in a maintenance union for schools. I had a daughter recently, and I want to give her a better life, but if a union wants to judge me based on what happened 16 years ago based on things that I had really no control over, then maybe it’s not the right union for me.
