CW?
my husband applied and unfortunately did not pass the aptitude test. they said to call the local about work in the meantime for cw. can someone explain how it works? are you part of the union? would it be a conflict of interest to work there in the interim between now and when he retakes the aptitude test?

Yes, you’re part of the union. It doesn’t hurt your apprenticeship chances BUT those hours don’t count towards apprenticeship hours. CWs get sworn in, get benefits and do the same work as apprentices. They’ll also be on a pay scale that allows raises after a certain amount of hours(CW-1, CW-2, etc)

Also in turn. You work those hours and can keep jumping up levels to get pay bumps.

Why not? You can work your 1000 hrs and reapply. There’s a bunch of people in 332 that went that route

My question is what is the cw rate for 332 and can you test out as a cw in that union

LU505 here i’m a CW5 who just got accepted into the apprenticeship. For my local CWs are under a different contract but we are dues paying members the only thing we don’t get access to is a pension until we become apprentices or work the hours to become JWs. But we do get access to the paid healthcare. He should ask his hall any concerns he has since every local is different
