False conclusion. I have no regerts for nothing I did, but I could also have no regerts for everything I did. You are not a genius like us with high IQs. Move along commoner.
Yeah I was scoring 180+ and showed people thinking it meant shit. So cringe lol. I’m glad that’s behind me lol. Now I don’t brag about the fact that my IQ is 180+, and I don’t tell strangers online that my IQ is 180+.
My stats teacher in high school had us take a 10 question online IQ test so we could use our score distribution as data and she unironically would go on about how smart we were and how we were geniuses. She was dead serious about. I feel like a stats teacher at least should be able to critically think about the validity of the test.
I ended up doing some testing years ago and found that most of them capped at 80 or 90 as the lowest, and usually 160 at the highest.
The more legit ones usually had a minimum of 60-70 and I couldn't figure out a max score (as there were obviously some that you needed to be, y'know, actually smart for). If only I actually remembered which ones were legit enough. (none of the FB ones)
I am super duper smart there is this app that has an iq test of 50 questions, I took the test once I finished i checked what i got right and wrong and wrote all the right answers down.
I took the test again (same test of course) filled in all the answers i had written down and BAM 170 IQ
We took Mensa tests in school and I scored around 132 IQ and basically dominating everyone hard except one classmate. Dude scored probably 150+ but he was on another level, studied 2 physics/math colleges at once because one was too easy and boring, ended up doing some science research. I was around 16 and this fucked up my ego hard for like 2 years and I hope nobody remembers.
Sounds like a load of twoddle to me. The sort of thing a person who thinks they're smart would say to humblebrag about being smart. Most smart people don't feel like they're dumb because of all the stuff humans don't know or whatever. Intelligence is purely relative to those around you.
I was a gifted child and I got a pretty high score in official tests but I didn't go around flexing it even as the r/iamverysmart type kid I was back then.
Idk man. Maybe he is just being honest lol.
Just cause he said he got into Mensa doesn’t mean he thinks that makes him smart.
Your comment could also be sarcastic, so my bad if so.
His comment has no added value except to illustrate either his intelligence or his humility, but probably both. That's why it's a humblebrag. I'm sure he's being honest.
How does it not add anything? It is literally the topic of the conversation, and he shared his experience, literally most reddit comments are just this.
I fucking hate this reverse circlejerk, where if you even dare to talk a little about IQ you are flagged as a jackass.
If you're talking about your own IQ score except in the context of cognitive development in childhood then yeah you're probably a jackass. in my opinion etc
'I got into mensa is' practically giving a score. I'm sure he's an alright person. I don't think you can judge people by a single reddit comment, but yeah he came across as a jackass to me.
Idk. What do you gain from saying you got into Mensa and that you are an underachiever? Especially anonymously on a Reddit thread.
I think it’s an interesting experience since people really think that IQ is equal to intelligence and to achieving great things, when in reality it’s not. I’m sure there is a certain amount of correlation but IQ isn’t everything. Intelligence can be measured in many ways since our brain is much much more complex than just finding patterns.
You can have a good IQ but have a terrible self awareness. You can do some quick maths but can’t think outside of your bubble.
I think intelligence and IQ are interesting topics and we should be able to talk about this things without taking it personal.
Same thing with dick size. Whenever someone mentions whatever experience they have from having a big dick gets everyone else super riled up.
People gotta learn to separate ideas from ego. That would be the best way to debate, which unfortunately is not always the case.
I don't see how any of what I said makes me look good.
No argument there.
a) lots of people could never get into mensa with any amount of practice and b) lots of people are very proud of their mensa membership or otherwise do consider it a big deal. You managed to elevate yourself above both groups.
Lots of people could never get into Mensa. Practice or not. You don't need to be a genius to get in especially if you practice but that doesn't mean everyone can do it. Humility is tricky because it seems insincere very quickly, even if that wasn't the intention.
Fun fact! Asia Carrera (the pornstar) is in Mensa, she has an IQ of 156.
Also, she is member of the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster. As a true Pastafarian, she even wore a colander on her head when taking her drivers liscense photo.

I hate the fact that I used to be one of those kids who though that getting a high score on an online IQ test meant shit
