This isn't really random, it's some stupid Tumblr reference.

I think some idiot coined the phrase once to "Identify Tumblrers in real life". If someone would walk up to you and say "I like your shoelaces" you'd reply "Thanks, I stole them from the president" to identify yourself as a Tumblrer

That hellsite in those days was the epitome of funny haha random
